Like / Hate: Dunes so far @PlayKintara 🪎🏜️

(keeping in mind team will likely spend the next days nerfing and buffing some updates leveling out)

I like how $kins liquidity pools have supply back in them and chart is wiggling up a little

dont like how long it takes for armor or walking thru ROT, HEAT, and Scorpions for health smith

armor slow + motion pause when hit with sword means ur cooked if 2-4 users are after you

3 different levels of tools is kinda over kill man

grinding or paying for materials forever to get armor that dissapears if you get molested by ROT.

- armor should go to like 1% if you die and you have to rebuild it imo

scrolls: ehh sometimes I think they shouldnt dissapear if you die if "soul bound."

but also I suppose it somewhat helps Gold inflation but takes so long to find a scroll and farm materials

sometimes I feel like just farming the chart instead of the game after losing multi tier grinded bag items and materials, its deflating not "fun."

there is a fine line between P2E and P2P (pay to play), if it starts leaning towards the ladder users may fall off

scorpion king is pretty cool, but tough grind because its PVP unlike Venumweaver where its a team effort once in the cave.

if you are weak after fighting everyone can just kill you now you have no armor or anything

basically, A LOT of updates all at once that alter just about the entire game play.

KINTARA UPDATES + DUNES 🏜️🦂

Entire Game Meta and Materials Changed:

1. The Dunes are open.

A new desert realm where the heat kills you slowly and King Scorpia kills you fast. Learn Smithing — a brand-new sixth skill — smelt your own ingots, forge copper/iron/silver gear, and craft armor at Kaziir the Armoursmith. Level cap raised to 40. Stacks now hold 10,000.

The Dunes East and The Dunes West, two connected 40×40 maps reached from the south edge of the Shores. The sun does the first half of the killing; King Scorpia does the rest.

Heat damage. You get a 30-second grace period on arrival, then take 1 HP every 10 seconds for as long as you stay in the realm. It bypasses your shield entirely — armor will not save you from the sun, and neither will the safe camps. Leaving and coming back resets the grace.

Most of your food stops working. Regular Health Potions, cooked chicken and cooked fish all do nothing in the Dunes. Shield an Strength potions are unaffected.

Cacti heal 20 HP instantly with no cooldown, and only in the Dunes. Cutting one needs an Iron Axe or better and Woodcutting 20.

Health Potion+ is the one brewed heal the sun allows — 50 HP over 5 seconds. Nadeen the Sandcook in Dunes West crafts it from 50 cacti + 1 Health Potion + 5 brute horn.

Desert Robes. Wear... Giant Scorpions

The Dunes pack: 200 HP, hits you for 40, notices you from 3 tiles, respawns 20 seconds after death. Nine roam the East, six the West.

50 combat XP per kill, multiplied by your sword tier.
Desert Robe Top and Bottom at 1 in 5,000 each.
Medium Scroll at 1 in 500 — the Dunes are now the fastest place to farm that tier.

Smithing — an updated Skill ⛏️
Unlocks at Total Level 20. The level cap across every skill is now 40, up from 30. Smelting (no level requirement — start immediately).

Each smelt yields 10 ingots: | Ingot | Cost | Copper Ingot ×10 | 100 stone + 50 coal | | Iron Ingot ×10 | 60 iron ore + 60 coal | | Silver Ingot ×10 | 40 silver ore + 80 coal | Mining the ore itself is gated: iron at Mining 5, silver at Mining 20.

Forging at either forge — Grimjaw in Frostmere, or Harun the Forgewright, a second smith who now works out of the stepped tower in Dunes West with the identical window.

Sword damage, rebalanced

Armor — Kaziir the Armoursmith

Kaziir works out of a tower in Dunes East. Four slots — head, body, legs, feet — in iron and silver. Armor adds capacity to your shield pool rather than reducing damage.Iron: +5 shield per piece. Wear at Combat 15.
Silver: +10 shield per piece.

Wear at Combat 25.
Durability: 1,000 per piece. Every worn piece spends one point per hit taken, so a full set wears four times as fast in wall-clock terms.

Repairs cost 60% of the forge ingot cost, scaled to how much durability is missing, minimum one ingot. Both Grimjaw and Harun repair tools and armor alike.

Shield is now a points pool
Shield used to be five discrete charges, where one charge ate a whole 20 HP hit regardless of size. It is now measured in the same units as HP.

Base 100 with no armor — exactly the old five charges, so unarmored balance is unchanged.
Maximum 140 with a full silver set.

Shield absorbs damage before your HP is touched, and does not regenerate on its own.
Shield Potions restore 10 per second for 5 seconds (50 total), a fixed amount that no longer scales with your armor.

King Scorpia
His loot goes to the top 3 damage dealers who are still alive when he falls. Ranking by damage means the last hit does not own the kill; requiring a pulse means you cannot buy a slot with your corpse. Every player rolls independently — nobody competes with their own team.

Drop | Chance | 18–30 gold | 1 in 200 | | Hard Scroll | 1 in 100 | | King Scorpia Mount | 1 in 500 | The mount is one per player and no longer drops from ordinary scorpions — A world boss in the western Dunes. 1,500 HP, respawns every 30 minutes.Bites for 25, and his riposte hits for 10.

Chases at roughly twice normal speed and walks straight through scenery — a king does not walk around a cactus.

Shrugs off hit-stun twice as fast as an ordinary scorpion, so the fight is a trade rather than a stun-lock.

The Throw: one bite in five — his own or his riposte — picks you up and hurls you 6 tiles, bouncing off walls, scenery, realm edges and safe camps.

Riding King Scorpia
While mounted, ordinary scorpions ignore you completely. Attack one and that cover breaks: they will hunt you for **30 sec...

Hard Scrolls 📜

A third scroll tier, dropped only by King Scorpia. All five material deliveries are mandatory:

• 4,000–5,000 wood
• 3,000–4,000 stone
• 2,500–3,500 coal
• 20–50 brute horn
• 100–200 molten rock
Plus 3–5 bonus tasks.

Redeem at Maelor the Scrollbinder for 30–50 gold, and five independent 1-in-500 cosmetic rolls: Flaming Helmet, Gold Cane, Emerald Cane, Ruby Cane, Sapphire Cane. Each roll is separate, so you can win several or none. All five stack and are fully tradeable.

Scrolls remain soul bound if you die and destroyed if you die holding them.

Bigger Stack 🧳🤑

Every stack in the game now holds 10,000 instead of 999 — resources, gold, cosmetics, furniture, everything.

• Large numbers are abbreviated in the UI: 10,273 shows as 10.3K.

Hover any quantity to see the exact figure, and transactional screens like marketplace price and quantity fields always show the full number.
