Good morning. Full transparency, I hesitated posting this because what I DON’T want is for it to be interpreted as a “look at me and look what I’m doing” post. Instead, it SHOULD be interpreted as a “look at US and what are YOU doing?” post.
We’re coming up on the 6-month anniversary of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Area Principals for Good Trouble & the ride has been interesting, to say the least. For those who are following, some updates...The group is over 300 in membership.
As we push for even greater lengths of Good Trouble, for those of you watching from up close or far away - we’re attempting to still balance the readiness of some to jump right in with the realities of others around retribution, dismissal, & the worst fear:
Introducing GTP Gwen Anderson:
“Being a GTP means that I relentlessly learn, reflect, and challenge the educational system around me, support my colleagues in the same journey, for the radical improvement of education our scholars receive and society we live in.”
Introducing Mauri Friestleben. Being a GTP, means:
“Fearing God more than man and loyalty to my community over my district has born in me a resolve to stand firm regardless of employment or political gain.”
Introducing GTP Bobbie Olson.
“It is my work to listen and amplify while educating myself and the white folks in the system that are my colleagues and superiors...1/2
Thank you @GTPrincipals for the opportunity to listen and learn from an incredibly passionate panel today! Your leadership is contagious and inspiring! #youmatter
Introducing GTP Leanne Kampfe:
“I’m principal at Hopkins West Junior High. My work, every single day, is to work against the ways in which white supremacy defines the field of education, most specifically in the ways it shows up in my school and district...
My usual rule of thumb is to not retweet this blowhard...but to say the families and the students in our schools and communities are “burdens”...well, those are fightin’ words. We are absolutely blessed to welcome our students into our schools, wherever they come from.

What’s your good trouble? I merged “regular” and IB Physics, so there is no more tracking of students. #GoodTroublePrincipals
