Our co-convener, @StrathU, has published a new think paper drawing on @SingoeiAKorir 's remarks at the Regulatory Institutions Consultative Breakfast, and it lands on a question worth sitting with: can there be enduring trust without enduring rules?

It makes a case worth reading: that the rules-based international order isn't a distant diplomatic construct, but the thing that makes everyday institutional trust possible; from the safety of medicines to the credibility of a financial licence.

As Achieng Butler, MD of ALADI, put it: this is a place "where strategy is inspired by nature."

And the first session started exactly where it should have; with a question turned on ourselves. If we're convening a summit on trust, what makes us worthy of that trust? How do we hold a conversation about credibility without first examining our own?

At Strathmore University, the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs sat down with students for a conversation that asked something rarely put to young people directly: what do you actually think Kenya's place in the world should be?

The Youth Mashinani Dialogues brought together young Kenyans to unpack foreign policy, peace and security, and the question at the heart of the Global Trust Summit: how do we rebuild trust between citizens, institutions, and nations?
Youth priorities from these dialogues feed directly into the Summit's founding declaration; a named, credited contribution from young Kenyans to the conversation Nairobi hosts this October.

At the Regulators Consultative Breakfast, Ms @carole_gaita, Executive Director of @MzalendoWatch and Co-Convener for Civil Society under the Open Government Partnership (OGP), made a case worth sitting with: trust isn't built by government alone. It lives in the space between government, civil society, and citizens. Rebuilding it requires actively repairing it and creating a safe space in Kenya for people to co-create the way forward.

As a co-convener of the Global Trust Summit 2026, @opengovpart brings exactly that ethos: accountability, openness, and citizen participation at the heart of how we rebuild public trust.

At the Regulators Consultative Breakfast on 30 June, @KampMathias , Country Director of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung @KAS_Kenya, spoke passionately in a fireside chat about the challenges faced by public institutions not just in Kenya but globally. He left the audience reflecting on how we should reconfigure crisis management and build and sustain trust.
