IPOB Vows Not to Abandon Nnamdi Kanu, Emphasizes Institutionalizing Biafra Struggle
Mazi Austin Agbanyim, IPOB Europe Representative and Member of the Directorate of State (DOS), has assured members that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) remains committed to the release of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and will not abandon him “in the hands of the enemies.”
Speaking to delegates from over 45 IPOB UK zones at the just-concluded IPOB UK 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and City Evangelism in West Brom, Birmingham, Agbanyim stressed the need for the movement to rise above emotions and personal loyalty when decisions conflict with its core roadmap.
“When we saw that some of the messages coming from Mazi Nnamdi Kanu through his lawyers were against the IPOB Roadmap, we said no,” he stated. “We must remove emotions. We must not go wrong because our leader is going wrong.”
Agbanyim reiterated IPOB’s determination to institutionalize the Biafra struggle so that it cannot be held hostage whenever any individual leader is incapacitated or unreachable.
The event combined organizational review with grassroots outreach activities across Birmingham as part of IPOB UK’s 2026 activities.

The pieces are beginning to come together: About two weeks ago, I told you we had begun working on finding our people who are being held in Nigerian prisons without being charged to court.
A prison sentence should never become a sentence to invisibility.
Across Nigeria, there are men and women who have never been tried. Some have been granted bail. Some have court judgments in their favour. Yet they remain behind prison walls.
Many have lost contact with their families, not because they have forgotten them, but because they have no way of reaching them. Many families and friends are looking for their loved ones without knowing they are held in these prisons.
Released inmates often leave prison carrying messages for others, but without the means to travel across states or locate families whose phone numbers have changed or whose homes have been abandoned.
This is why I am building a space on https://t.co/zXbHGj7N9V where forgotten voices can be heard again, families can reconnect, and hope can find its way home.
Justice is not only about who enters prison. It is also about ensuring no human being is forgotten behind its walls.
I also want to appeal to every former prisoner: if you were unable to deliver someone's message, please find a way to send word back into the prison.
Let that inmate know. Ask if there is another relative, friend or contact who can be reached instead.
Don't let hope end because one door remained closed.
A conscious society does not forget people behind prison walls or allow people to disappear into silence. Justice is not only about imprisonment, it is also about preserving our shared humanity.
No one should disappear. No voice should be lost.

THE EGYPTIANS WE SEE TODAY SHALL BE SEEN NO MORE: AN IGBO REFLECTION ON TRUTH, CONSCIENCE, AND THE IMPERATIVE OF PRESERVING OUR ANCESTRAL DECENCY
There is an enduring biblical declaration recorded in Exodus 14:13: “The Egyptians whom ye see today, ye shall see them again no more forever.” Beyond its religious significance, it symbolizes the inevitable triumph of truth over oppression, light over darkness, and righteousness over deception.
Our revered Igbo forebears understood this timeless principle long before the advent of modern institutions. Their philosophy of justice was deeply rooted in the sanctity of Ala—the Earth Deity, the custodian of morality, truth, justice, and communal harmony. They believed that no matter how cleverly evil was concealed, the desecration of the land would ultimately provoke divine justice. Hence, the timeless Igbo wisdom: “Ala anaghị eri onye aka ya dị ọcha,” meaning that the Earth does not consume the innocent.
My late father, who was privileged to live to the remarkable age of ninety-eight, often recounted how our ancestors approached moments of grave communal crisis. Whenever unprecedented wickedness, bloodshed, sacrilege, or moral decay threatened the peace of the land, the custodians of tradition consulted the deities—not to promote vengeance, but to restore truth, expose falsehood, cleanse the land, and preserve the collective destiny of the people. Today, however, the advent of Christianity and our belief in the invincible power of Christ have transformed this system.
It was firmly believed that those who secretly conspired to pollute the land with innocent blood, deceit, betrayal, or sacrilegious acts would, in due course, become instruments of their own exposure. Whether through confession, contradiction, indiscretion, or the inexorable workings of providence, hidden conspiracies would ultimately come to light. In Igbo cosmology, truth may be delayed, but it is never permanently buried. Indeed, it is unfolding right before our eyes today.
Today, these ancient lessons resonate with profound relevance.
For years, many voices consistently raised concerns that criminal elements had infiltrated a noble cause, with profound collusion from within, disguising themselves as freedom advocates while perpetrating heinous crimes against the very people they professed to defend. At the time, such concerns were dismissed by some as unfounded, while others chose the comfort of denial over the discomfort of truth.
Yet, unfolding events continue to compel sober reflection. Increasingly, disturbing realities suggest that those responsible for many atrocities committed across parts of Alaigbo were not necessarily motivated by the lofty ideals of self-determination, but by ulterior motives, criminality, personal ambition, profiteering, and infiltration.
History teaches that no nation has ever been rebuilt through indiscriminate violence against its own people. No civilization has flourished by burning the homes of its brethren, abducting innocent citizens, murdering traditional rulers, attacking public institutions, intimidating the clergy, silencing dissenting voices, or making fear the currency of daily existence.
The Igbo nation has never celebrated bloodshed against its own people.
Our civilization was founded upon communal responsibility, industry, enterprise, respect for life, justice, hard work, and the sanctity of family and community. We are a people renowned for rebuilding after devastation, not for institutionalizing destruction.
Sadly, one of the greatest tragedies confronting Alaigbo today is the painful realization that some of those orchestrating this reign of terror are neither strangers nor distant adversaries. They have lived among us, eaten at our tables, spoken our language, enjoyed our confidence, and exploited the trust of our people while secretly advancing agendas that have brought untold suffering upon our communities.
Perhaps even more disturbing is the growing realization that deception has often worn the garments of patriotism, while betrayal has disguised itself as courage. Yet truth possesses an enduring quality: it neither expires nor surrenders. In the fullness of time, it unveils itself.
As another profound Igbo proverb reminds us:
“Eziokwu bụ ndụ; ụgha bụ ọnwụ.”
Truth is life; falsehood ultimately leads to destruction.
Another equally instructive proverb declares:
“Ihe e ji ekpuchi anwụ anaghị ekpuchi ya ruo mgbede.” Nothing can permanently cover the sun.
The unfolding realities before us should, therefore, provoke not bitterness but wisdom; not vengeance but discernment; not despair but a renewed commitment to justice and peace.
This is the defining moment for Ndi Igbo.
A people cannot liberate themselves by first enslaving their own communities to fear. A nation cannot emerge from the ashes of its own villages. Our future cannot be secured through perpetual mourning.
The preservation of Alaigbo requires courage—not merely the courage to confront external challenges, but the even greater courage to reject the internal forces that seek to destroy us from within.
May Ala continue to vindicate the innocent. May truth continue to expose falsehood.
May justice triumph over deception.
And may Almighty God, who sees beyond appearances and searches every heart, continue to preserve Alaigbo and restore lasting peace to our beloved homeland.

Today, they are talking and claiming ownership of IPOB that is Championing the Biafra struggle for over a decade with the blood and huge sacrifice by the Biafra people just because the movement has survived and withstood their malicious plans, which included creating various groups to undermine the IPOB leadership.
From Auto criminals and Sunrise to AVID and the Criminal Liberation Army, their aim was to tarnish the movement's image committed all kinds of evil in the name of the IPOB and the Biafra struggle so that people would forsake the struggle for independence.
However, those who are divinely chosen remained steadfast and persevered through the turmoil for the cause.Unexpectedly, he leaped out, attempting to persist in their trickery and deception of championing the struggle he has denied and abandoned for years . If the struggle had been destroyed or ended and everyone left as he directed, neglecting the men and freezing the funds for the struggle for their personal interest and evil plans to Collapse the struggle, who would be discussing IPOB and the Biafra struggle today?
I will be broadcasting live soonest In order to provide clear explanations regarding these blackmailers; their falsehoods will be exposed, and Biafrans will comprehend what has been transpiring all along. It's time to declassify certain information bout this movement so that our citizens can stop languishing in ignorance and free themselves from these criminals agitators who refer to themselves as Biafran agitators.
No one can destroy this Biafra global movement in this era until Biafra is restored . Agent provocateurs may boast, curse, and scheme about their abilities to sabotage this movement, but I assure them, those orchestrating this devilish plans will never prevail unless the majority of us cease to live.

Biafra Agitation Framed as “Battle of Survival” by Analyst Chika Austin https://t.co/tjgBZC8Nui
Analyst and Biafra commentator Chika Austin has described the ongoing Biafran self-determination movement as an existential “battle of survival,” warning that states often respond to such agitations by targeting both leaders and their causes.
In his latest contribution, Austin examines the dynamics of revolutionary movements under state pressure. He argues that when authorities capture a movement’s leader, the typical outcome involves the destruction of the leader, the dismantling of the movement, or in extreme cases, both.
“When a state captures a leader of a movement, they destroy the leader or the movement, or in some cases the state destroys both the leader and the movement,” Austin stated.
Austin cited the case of environmental activist and Ogoni leader Ken Saro-Wiwa as a poignant example. Saro-Wiwa was arrested by the Nigerian military regime in the 1990s for his advocacy against environmental degradation in Ogoniland and for broader demands for minority rights. He was executed in 1995 along with eight other Ogoni activists following a trial widely criticized internationally as flawed.
According to Austin, the state not only eliminated Saro-Wiwa but also sought to cripple the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) and its mission for justice and resource control. The execution sparked global outrage, led to Nigeria’s suspension from the Commonwealth, and highlighted the lengths to which states may go to suppress agitations perceived as threats to national unity or economic interests.
Austin draws parallels between the Saro-Wiwa case and the current Biafra agitation, particularly the prolonged detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. He frames the Biafran struggle as more than a political campaign, it is an ideological fight for the survival, equity, and self-preservation of the people of Biafra WATCH IT HERE https://t.co/tjgBZC8Nui

We have just concluded the midnight candlelight vigil in honour of Biafra’s heroes and heroines. Today, the 30th, IPOB worldwide will officially remember Biafra’s heroes and heroines with our usual rituals.
As long as we live, we shall never forget Biafra’s fallen heroes. We have immortalised them in our hearts, and we shall pass their legacy on to our children and our children’s children to remember every year. This memory shall linger until the end of time. #BiafraRemembranceDay #BiafraHeroesDay
