The most pleasurable activities almost usually involve sharing something. There is thus a certain communism at the root of most things we consider fun.
Until 4 hours ago, a man was struggling with health problems against a medical system that saw him as little more than a nuisance.
He's dead now.
His story needs to be spread. People need to pay attention to the human cost of the US health care system.
One thread I'm seeing pop up that I appreciate is continuing to highlight the absurdity of the "Gender Critical" name, especially when so many of their arguments fall back to asserting their position is the "Common Sense" position.
Meaning not a position arrived at critically.
โFemale athletes of colour have historically faced disproportionate scrutiny and discrimination when it comes to sex testing and false accusations that they are male or transgender, historians and anthropologists say.โ https://t.co/hy1RSgCMcr
I disagree. To push back on these lies reveals the bigotry, it does not cede ground. It reveals that they believe these things would not have happened if not for the specter of the invading minority.
They dismiss any honest analysis because they need the lie to be true.
โthe perpetrator wasnโt even muslimโ and โimane khelif isnโt even transโ are both very plain examples of how fascists manipulate well meaning liberals into conceding ground. islamaphobia and transphobia are wrong regardless of if they are misdirected
I wasn't super sold on the "IBA disqualified Khelif because she beat a Russian boxer" narrative, but when you consider that the Russian boxer in question has a perfect record, only because of the DQ placed on Khelif in 2023, it becomes more believable.

@bigxxxxdan 1. She was not banned for doping. She was banned for (supposedly) failing a gender test.
2. Even in the case for doping, the IBA has rules for provisional suspensions and could very well have suspended Khelif pending a second test. The fact that they did not is highly suspect.
@bigxxxxdan Failing a test means you are likely to still be ineligible the next year, especially if their president is telling the truth and her chromosomes were tested. In that case, every sporting body in their right mind would either ban, or suspend pending completion of a second test.
@FavorInfan61251@assignedmedia The thing is the science is still settled, in our favour, despite the reprehensible, criminal tissue of fraud which was the Cass "Review". But "settled" doesn't mean "nailed down". If you could have proved us wrong, we would have taken the L. You just couldn't
