Sadly, however, we surpassed that number a while ago. As MPD has shot & killed 7 people in 2021 (& USCP one more on J6). Police violence is violence. And should be counted as such. #KeepDCAlive#EndGunViolence
Yesterday, according to "official" reports DC surpassed 200 homicides. A 12% increase from last year & the most reported homicides since 2003. Today, I want to take a moment to remember & honor their lives. 🕯️🕯️🕯️#KeepDCAlive#EndGunViolence

Yes to this. “Official” reports are 200 lives have been stolen to violence this year. But what makes this “official”?? MPD. MPD does not want to be held accountable and count lives lost at their hands. Hold MPD accountable. #CountThemAll
Grim arithmetic, but pls note: MPD and USCP shot seven people to death in 2021, including SEVEN BLACK MEN and one white person storming the House on J6. The killing toll here topped 200 awhile back. MPD just doesn't tally deaths they cause. COUNT. THEM. ALL. @Defund_MPD
The DC chapter of Moms Demand Action honors the 200 lives lost to violence in the District this year. This. Is. Preventable. We must honor their memories with action @MomsDemand. #KeepDCAlive
“This is like the f*cking Oscar’s red carpet of people in Gun Violence Prevention” @LisaDemands. I meannnnn she’s not wrong. The amount of GVP celebs on this call #swoon You don’t want to be missing out! #Peace4DC

On October 18, 2021, DeAndre Johnson lost his life at the hands of the @DCPoliceDept in Southeast Washington, DC. DeAndre was so much more than the narrative that has been released reflects. He was a loving father and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
This summer, @DCPoliceDept shot 4 people in 2 weeks and it didn't even make the national news. This week, they've shot 2 people so far. This is a spate of violence. This is a crisis.
The crime spike in 2020 cannot be talked about seperate from the fact that 2020 also was when so many people were struggling. If we want to get serious about public safety, we need to get serious about addressing root causes of violence. That is prevention. #KeepDCAlive
We need “Creative solutions that can bolster public safety.” Thank you @AGKarlRacine! Yes to creative solutions since our current system of over-policing isn’t working #ANC6B#GVPinDC
