A great video explainer by Critical Latitude about the weakening Atlantic Ocean overturning circulation and the risk of it passing a tipping point.

Switzerland's glacier report 2026 is out.

Swiss glaciers have lost 5% of their ice volume this year. Only the last 5 years accounted for nearly 20% of the total ice loss across Switzerland. The numbers are devastating.

Hurricane Polo continues to rapidly improve in structure, with an eye clearing out on visible satellite & two vortical hot towers rotating around its nascent small eyewall.

Combined with ambient moisture, very high SST & low shear, an extreme intensification rate is imminent.

🧊🔥 6 meters !🔥🧊

This is what the largest glacier in the Alps has lost at Konkordiaplatz at 2900 m asl during the insane 2026 summer !

'No words' as @matthias_huss (pictured here) said! 😲😱

Paris, France, has now officially recorded 100 days above 25°C (77°F) in 2026 so far. This has never happened before in a calendar year since records began 154 years ago, in 1872.

🏔️ When will each glacier on Earth disappear?

Very happy to launch the #GlobalGlacierExtinctionExplorer, mapping the projected disappearance of every glacier on Earth under different warming levels.

Yesterday was a historic day in Iquique, Chile 🇨🇱!

The temperature rose from 21.3°C at 17:19 to 30.0°C at 17:29, then 33.4°C at 23:10! 🙃

The max of 33.4°C is an all-time record tied at the station (same on July 2016).
Keep in mind that August is the coldest month of the year.

Bordeaux, France, has now recorded more days above 40°C in 2026 alone than during the entire 105-year period from 1920 (when observations began) to 2025. This is deeply shocking.

Glad we made it to Bordeaux by taxi last night and are now in the TGV train to Paris! Through the train window, a landscape shrouded in smoke.
