We've won another month of healthcare coverage for furloughed workers @UBridgeport!
This means a tremendous amount, especially during a pandemic. The right to collectively bargain brings us one step closer to universal healthcare.
The workers at @UBridgeport have taken good care of the university - but when times got tough, the university failed to reciprocate.

Today is May 1st, International Workers' Day! We'd normally be hitting the pavement with fellow workers, but under the current circumstances, we figured this would be a good occasion to pause and look back on our industry's history of labor organizing ✊
Last month, a worker filed an OSHA claim after being sent home for refusing to work without gloves. OSHA settled the claim and the worker received backpay for the lost wages at a standard rate, not with bonuses.

Our union represents hundreds of workers at the Municipal Credit Union. Management hired union-busters @JacksonLewisPC to handle contract negotiations and are, unsurprisingly, trying to cut crucial benefits--even during a pandemic. Here's an update we gave to workers.
