Huge congratulations to @vodeoworkers for forming the first videogame studio union in North America - a massive moment for our ongoing labour movement!
Hi!
We are workers at Vodeo Games, and today we’re thrilled to announce that we have come together to form Vodeo Workers United - the first certified union of videogame workers in North America! Organized with @CODE_CWA. 🎉
We have instituted our own Zero Tolerance Policy. We will not be silenced until Bobby Kotick has been replaced as CEO, and continue to hold our original demand for Third-Party review by an employee-chosen source. We are staging a Walkout today. We welcome you to join us.
Also, as far as I can tell, @PaizoWorkers are not just the first North American game workers with union collective bargaining rights...
They are also the first table top game workers in the world to certify their union!
🚨⚠️Game Union News! ⚠️🚨
@PaizoWorkers just signed a voluntary recognition agreement with @paizo management.
The workers behind Pathfinder and Starfinder are about to become the FIRST certified unit of game workers in North America with collective bargaining rights!
Today's a great day to start organizing your workplace!
Do you work in the tech, gaming or digital industry?
Hit us up.
You & your fellow workers deserve a voice on the job—and the power to positively shape your workplace for all!
This is a really good look at some of the anti-union tactics employers often use once a campaign goes public. Being aware of them will help you defeat them! https://t.co/jameM9dRfG
This is so important. We've seen some threads over the past week suggesting that a union is a "third-party". It isn't - the union is you and your co-workers.
It's been a big week for the labor movement, everyone's Twitter timeline has been covered in the all-caps "UNIONIZE"
The sentiment is 🔥, but we have a challenge for you: don't just be pro-union in words, be pro-union in actions.

It’s easy to see @CODE_CWA or yours truly and think that there are organizations out there "unionizing the industry."
But make no mistake -- union campaigns are run by ordinary game workers. We're here to help, but only *you* can gather your fellow workers into a movement.

What's important about unionizing isn't the legal structure that gets formed if/when a vote or card check is successful, it's the process of organizing and building solidarity with other workers. It's this process that changes people's worldview, and shifts the balance of power.
Don't just take my word for it, there's plenty of research out there backing this up.

No one I know who's involved in labour organizing thinks unions, especially as they currently exist after decades of repression & manipulation by bosses, are perfect or the solution to every problem. But we also know that workers are a LOT better off with unions than without them
