Republic of Srpska reacted sharply after the unelected High Representative Christian Schmidt imposed a decision concerning the 2026 elections.

President Milorad Dodik described the move as “the final collapse of the EU’s policy in Bosnia and Herzegovina” and warned it would have consequences.

"From this moment, the Ministry of Interior of Republic of Srpska will have a permanent order to investigate Schmidt’s actions and behavior," Dodik stated.

Prime Minister Radovan Višković also condemned Schmidt’s decision, announcing that institutions of Republic of Srpska will seek international involvement.

"We will, on behalf of the institutions of Republic of Srpska, request that the FBI join this investigation. Mr. Schmidt, today you have crossed every line," Višković declared.

China to support Georgia’s pro-Russian government

Georgia is considering joining China’s CIPS payment system amid threats of being cut off from SWIFT.

The National Bank of Georgia announced it is in talks with the leadership of the Chinese system following a meeting between NBG head Natia Turnava and CIPS president Fu Huang.

CIPS is China’s alternative to SWIFT, created in 2015 for yuan-based transactions.

Earlier, the European Parliament called for Georgia to be disconnected from SWIFT due to its cooperation with Russia and drift away from democracy. Voices calling for the suspension of Georgia’s visa-free status in the EU are also growing louder.
