The Johannesburg Social Housing Company (JOSHCO), in partnership with the City of Johannesburg’s Department of Human Settlements, has officially launched a city-wide Housing Needs Analysis Survey running across all seven regions until 30 August 2026.

The strategic initiative aims to establish an empirical baseline to determine actual housing demand, spatial preferences, affordability profiles, and specific tenure requirements across the municipality.

REGION C: Tshepisong Electricity Imbizo at Abundant Faith Christian Centre

Residents of Tshepisong are raising their concerns to the City’s executives and City Power officials about ongoing electricity service delivery challenges, including network overloading, illegal connections, meter tampering, infrastructure theft and low electricity vending in Tshepisong.

These issues are placing additional strain on the electricity network, contributing to service disruptions and undermining the reliability and sustainability of electricity supply in the community.

Executive Leads Dialogue on Smart Municipal Infrastructure and Sustainable Service Delivery

Both the Executive Mayor, Cllr Dada Morero and Deputy Mayor of Johannesburg, Cllr Loyiso Masuku joined a distinguished panel at the Sustainable Infrastructure Development Symposium South Africa (SIDSSA) in Cape Town, on Tuesday 25 August.

The panel examined how municipalities can modernise water, electricity, sanitation and waste infrastructure; harness digital technologies to improve revenue collection; develop smart utilities; and strengthen engineering and technical capacity to deliver better services.

The discussion also explored sustainable approaches to financing infrastructure upgrades without increasing municipal debt, while considering how public-private partnerships can strengthen infrastructure delivery and unlock opportunities for economic growth.
