Department of Chemistry organises @serbonline sponsored workshop on "Modeling and Synthesis: Molecules to Macromolecules -2023" from 25 Sep 2023 to 29 Sep 2023. With more than 150 registered participants, the Chief Guest Prof. Chandan Kumar Sahoo (Director-in-Charger, NIT Rourkela) inaugurated the event. The inauguration ceremony of the event had a virtual presence of Honorary Padma Shri Prof. E. D. Jemmis (IISc Bangalore), who later delivered his keynote lecture. Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao also greeted the gathering by sending a video message.
A total of 13 esteemed faculties from IITs, NITs and IISER and other technical institutions of the country will be delivering their talks throughout this 5-day hybrid mode workshop. Prof. Priyabrat Dash (HOD, Dept of Chemistry) is the Chairperson for hosting the workshop. Dr. Madhurima Jana and Dr. Bimalendu Adhikari are the coordinators of the workshop. Workshop also includes visits by few regional college students for hands on practice in modeling of molecules and sophisticated instruments used.
The workshop aims to provide essential information and understanding to UG and PG students, as well as young researchers and faculty members on the fundamentals of the techniques of modeling including use of artificial intelligence in modeling and synthesis of macro/bio/supramolecules and polymers of biological and material significance.

🌻Albert Eschenmoser died on July 14 three weeks before turning 98—very sad news. This giant of #organicchemistry had spent his whole career @ETH_DCHAB. He was famous for the #totalsynthesis of vitamin B12 (with R. B. Woodward) and the development of #syntheticmethods as well as for his studies on the #biosynthesis of #naturalproducts and the origin of life.
