Did presentation for some friends again, talked about pass rush design this time.
Mostly tried to do like, macro level design, why teams do stuff and so on.

@quote_icy@Hub_Scout1@SoftlyAugust I mean at the end of the day if Josh Simmons caps out at modern Eric Fisher without the injuries the chiefs will be and should be delighted with the pick lol. I really like his technical floor fwiw, has almost tunsil esque typewriter feet. Its why he did so well as a rook.
@quote_icy@Hub_Scout1@SoftlyAugust But since teams are setting wider and OTs are setting better (average starter OT range has gone way up in past decade) these profiles can play out there now.
OH Zach Tom is a good example as well, though Simmons is a better athlete and stiffer than Tom.
@Hub_Scout1@quote_icy@SoftlyAugust But imo the part being underplayed when comparing someone like bolles to someone like simmons is the frame difference. Weight does matter for anchoring but so does frame! It buys you time and space to recover. A lot of it is technical, but increased margins of error helps.
@Hub_Scout1@quote_icy@SoftlyAugust Jed Wills on the other end had problems which were much more around how sloppy he was especially mentally. Think its unfair to call anyone Jedrick Wills esque truth be told.
@JJCrossChop I think taking sewell and betting on him stopping being a fucking goofball in the pass game is reasonable. Trent was a goofball at his age.
Struggle to see how Dex isn't worth 28.5M. Struggle to see how we have a #1 pass rusher without him. Struggle to see how we have any matchup versatility without him. Struggle to see how we have an NFL IDL now.
That being said pick 10 was about the best result for this situation.
@JJCrossChop I think this framing is better than the standard linear view, but i think it underplays the sort of jaggedness of player value in the NFL. Really every position sort of has a piece wise function that grossly looks exponential is the way i would put it.
@willclq37 What im arguing is that a shift in vision that large in that small a period of time is not possible with football being as low a sample size sport as it is.
A gms core purpose imo is to give a roster building vision and philosophy. This would disprove ue has one.
I mean this as no slight to Jeremiyah Love who is, objectively, quite a good player.
But Joe Schoen drafting Love would mean that he completely lacks any internal logic or vision in roster building. Which is entirely incompatible with what a GM should be and would justify firing
@Dale_Snitterman Didnt word that great but my point essentially is. Center play is the hardest to get a firm grip on both evaluation wise and statistically. Which means its really hard for a C to build the public concensus resume other positions do.
@Dale_Snitterman I think theres a few issues with C evaluations because C is a notoriously inconsistent spot performance wise, and also the one that is most difficult to attribute loses and pressures to since you need to understand the playcalls and rules. Its very subjective. Which leads to this
