"Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake" is a famous strategic maxim widely attributed to French military leader Napoleon Bonaparte.
Unionism, in the throes of watching impotently and powerlessly, as their immediate former leader is sentenced for years of pedophilic abuse of children, as the discussion on Irish Unity gets global (even reaching the international news via Unionism's good friend Trump), and Nationalism confidently holds discussions in Ireland, America, Australia, Canada and the EU on planning for a referendum, while the end game to partition is discussed by Congressmen, MPs, TDs, and MEPs.
Meanwhile, Unionism has allowed an unelected and unelectable idiot to be their leading protagonist. His only claim to fame is continuous unwarranted promotion by a dismal, B-list TV host who has described him as a "loyalist linked to the East Belfast UVF," He denied this, of course.
The only strategy he employs is to attempt to rekindle the dead embers of a debate that was over 28 years ago, buried along with the tragic Quinn Children and 18 other Catholics/Nationalists murdered by supporters of the Orange efforts to triumphantly parade their anti Catholic, and anti Irish bigotry through a peaceful community, which rejects their confrontational antagonism.
We are even witnessing the collapse in support for Unionism as a broad tent, as horrified decent Protestants or people with a British identity stand in solidarity with the people of Garvaghy Road, against such atavistic behaviour.
It is clear that this loyalist/Unionist strategy has become Shakespearean tragedy as this fool
"...is a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more.
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing"
What a brave woman and French resistance fighter.
In Ireland, women resistance fighters also joined the fight against the British invasion and occupation.
After 1969, women were totally involved in IRA actions against the foreign enemy.
One of the most famous is in the picture below.
They must never be forgotten.
The ONLY purpose of the Free State Army, is exactly the one for which it was created in 1922. To fight that population component that aspires to full Irish independence, sovereignty and unity.
It has always been well enough armed to deal with Irish civilians, including those who would face death and/or imprisonment to oppose Free Statism and fight for full sovereignty.
It has NEVER defended Irish citizens under threat or attack from foreign armies, particularly those citizens in the North eho have faced pogroms, internment, Bloody Sunday, Ballymurphy and Springhill massacres, loyalist killers, RUC brutality, child killing by British soldiers etc.
Motto of FSA, "Ag seasamh gan gníomh".
Sinn Féin Representative to North America Ciarán Quinn with FOSFC Board Member Gabriel McCaffrey at two Irish memorials in Ottawa, paying respects and remembering the Famine dead and also the Rideau Canal workers who died building one of Ottawa's great works.
Au contraire.
The history of the world is full of examples of great leaders peacefully defying bad law, worse execution and failed dictatorships, that sought to reduce people of different colours, ethnic origin or religious faiths to second class citizenship or servility through oppressive laws.
Rosa Parks, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, John Hume etc. all defied unjust laws and suffered police brutality, convictions, imprisonment etc.
We Irish are rightly proud of our historical and contemporary leaders who defied colonial oppression and always fought for progress.
Notably, loyal, crown-supporting unionists historically supported Apartheid in South Africa, slavery in the America's, ethnic cleansing in Palestine etc.
Our nationalist/republican leaders are proudly standing on the right side of history and in opposition to colonialism, racism, apartheid and imperialism.
Gabriel McCaffrey and 58 other prominent Irish Canadians endorsed our Call for the Irish and British governments to plan now for Irish unity and to set a date for unity referendums. This launches our campaign to win support for the unity project in Canada.
“I was eight years old. I watched my father being shot dead in front of me, in our family home.” - Sinn Féin MP John Finucane’s open letter to Conservative Party MP David Davis regarding his dangerous & disgraceful IRA lawyer comments.
The triple lock has NEVER prevented Ireland from participating in genuine Peacekeeping missions.
It does prevent @MichealMartinTD and @fiannafailparty from sending Irish troops to participate in EU warmongering or Zionist genocide campaigns.
This is why it's so precious. And also why Martin wants rid of it.
The vast majority of people want Ireland to maintain our proud tradition of peacekeeping.
Reforming the triple lock ensures our decisions on participation in peacekeeping missions are not dictated by a veto from Russia, China, or the United States.
Trump copies methods straight out of Soviet Russia and Nazi Germany.
During the Soviet era, secret police and party agencies relied on vast, pervasive networks of informants and secret collaborators to monitor citizens, suppress dissent, and track illegal economic activity.
Role and Organization of Informants
• State Security Agencies: The Cheka, NKVD, OGPU, and later the KGB managed complex systems of voluntary and coerced informers.
• Everyday Surveillance: Informants were embedded deeply into daily life, including apartment buildings (often with designated building informers), workplaces, universities, and social circles.
• Types of Reporting: Informants tracked political opposition, "anti-Soviet" statements, unauthorized religious practice, foreign contacts, and non-political crimes such as the theft of state property, black-market trading, and corruption.
• Coercion and Incentives: People often became informants under direct pressure, blackmail, or threats of job/university loss and imprisonment, though some cooperated out of ideological belief or personal ambition.
Sister Agencies in the Eastern Bloc
• The Stasi (East Germany): Operated one of the most extensive domestic surveillance networks in history, utilizing over 170,000 unofficial informants (Inoffizielle Mitarbeiter) alongside tens of thousands of full-time staff to monitor East German society
🚨NEW: Donald Trump announce "fraud whistleblower incentive program" -- "All Americans will go to fraud dot gov & report cases of corruption/theft of taxpayer dollars in their communities ... if you turn somebody in and find $1 billion, we're giving 1%."
He's lying. He knows he's lying. The interviewer knows he's lying. His MAGA cult knows he's lying. Intelligent, non-partisan people know he's lying. His GOP party sycophantic politicians know he's lying. His corrupt, venal, cabinet members know he's lying.
The tale of The Emperor's New Clothes, from Hans Christian Anderson comes to mind.
Its only a matter of time now, he will be abandoned by all of his entourage of ass-lickers.
Trump: Already our prices are much lower. Oil is much lower. Or... gasoline is much lower. Anything you wanna call it. Food prices have come way down. 'Groceries,' so to speak.
Today over 50 members of the Irish community in Canada have called on the Irish govt to plan now for Irish reunification & for the British and Irish govts to set a date for unity referendums in accordance with the GFA. They also called on Canadian leaders to support this project.
From @LynneCampbell5 (PinkMiss), whom I thank for the extract below.
I look forward to that day when solid "Ulster" British loyalists get asked for their UK "Green Card".
The Free State government hanged several more teenagers who fought against the Tans.
The "77 executions" refers to the official number of anti-Treaty Republican prisoners executed by the Irish Free State during the bitter Irish Civil War (1922–1923).
Though modern historians have since verified that the total number of official judicially-sanctioned executions was actually 81, the number 77 remains deeply embedded in Irish political culture and republican history.
Among those executed were numerous teenagers and very young men, as the Free State government used emergency powers to target "small fry"— young guerrilla fighters carrying weapons—in an attempt to crack down on political opposition, and quickly establish control.
The Teenagers and Young Men Executed
The very first official military executions under the Free State’s emergency powers took place on the morning of November 17, 1922, at Kilmainham Gaol. They set a brutal precedent, deliberately targeting teenagers to send a message:
• James Fisher (Age 18): Shot by a firing squad alongside three others. In a final letter to his mother, he famously wrote, "I am to be shot in the morning... Be brave."
• John (Jack) Leo Murphy (Age 19): Executed a few weeks later on November 30, 1922, at Beggars Bush Barracks.
• Richard Twohig (Age 19): Executed in the initial November 17 wave.
• John Gaffney (Age 20) and Peter Cassidy (Age 21): Part of the same young group executed at Kilmainham Gaol.
In January 1923, an execution of seven men at the Curragh Camp in County Kildare included three more teenagers.
“I will be interviewed by the PSNI this week in relation to the peaceful protest on the Garvaghy Road. I stood with the Garvaghy Road residents to protect 28 years of peace and progress, and it was the right thing to do.” - Uachtarán Shinn Féin Mary Lou McDonald
The more I read this latest episode in the never ending, rearguard, culture-war nonsense of the unionist retreat, the more I wonder, does the PSNI provide private intelligence briefings to the guy that a @BBC "NI" presenter described as the "friend of the East Belfast UVF".
This would seem to be an amazing, and outrageous, breach of protocol, security and impartiality by any state agency, let alone one that gathers, analyzes and protects intelligence reports.
@erskinechilders Unbelievable. Almost fictional stuff. It would be like hiring an MI6 asset from the RUC to run An Garda Síochána. Could never happen in real life.....
