I am pretty consistently blown away by all of the really amazing things that my fellow former Emory athletes (@EmoryAthletics) are doing. We have educators, lawyers, coaches, designers, people working for the NBA, PhDs, MDs, database builders.....the list goes on.
One of my firefighters is prepping for a promotional exam in a few months, so today we worked on reframing it from an experience where he needs to prove his worth to a space where he gets to celebrate his knowledge. #ThanksArtur

BECAUSE MIXING A LACK OF IMPULSE CONTROL/PARANOIA/PTSD/ADDICTION AMONGST OTHER TREATABLE MENTAL HEALTH CONCERNS WITH UNCHECKED ACCESS TO GUNS GETS US NOWHERE *breathes in deeply*
I will preface this by saying mental health can be an explanation (not an excuse) & that there are a lot of issues in this country; this only addresses part of it.
WE HAVE TO START TALKING ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR AT-RISK POPULATIONS AND POLICE OFFICERS AND EVERYONE
Breathes there a Pittsburgher with soul so dead that he/she has never made a joke about the litter after a Kenny Chesney concert? I know I have. The PG should put Alexis back on the beat.
If youโre from Pittsburgh and you HAVENโT made a joke about the annual Kenny Chesney trash bonanza, I donโt trust you.
Hey @PittsburghPG, can you just let @alexisjreports do her job?
Iโm an only child raised by two black law enforcement officers (56+ years combined) I had numerous instances growing up where a parent had to suddenly leave bc duty calls. But at the same time that didnโt stop the convos about police brutality. Didnโt stop endless convos about...
This is 100% me thinking โout loudโ aka on Twitter, but...what is the link between self-compassion and productivity versus negative self-talk/shaming ourselves and being productive?
I can understand why some might associate self-compassion with laziness or complacency when not achieving a task, and I donโt think thatโs fully accurate. How can we talk about it in a way that demonstrates how productive being compassionate towards yourself can actually be?

If anyone wants a good workout today, my roommate does a live Zoom yoga sculpt. Itโs full body (cardio, legs, core) and supports mindfulness & focus on the breath. With or without weights. Helpful for all types of athletes, including basketball players ๐
