قامت الإمارات بتنفيذ عملية اغتيال استهدفت أحد شيوخ القبائل البارزين، الشيخ عمر عبدي إبراهيم، في إقليم سَنَاج الواقع شمال شرق الصومال، وذلك عبر غارة جوية بطائرة مسيّرة إماراتية.
الشيخ كان من أبرز الرافضين لمحاولات الإمارات استغلال ثروات الإقليم، إذ يُعرف عن مناطق سول وسَناج والعَين أنها من أغنى أقاليم شمال الصومال بما تحتويه من نفط وغاز وذهب، وهو ما يجعلها مسرحًا دائمًا للصراعات ومحاولات تهجير السكان.
وفقًا لمصادر محلية، فإن تصفية الش��خ جاءت في إطار اتفاق سري بين الرئيس الصومالي حسن شيخ محمود والإمارات، حيث يتمتع حسن شيخ بمصالح اقتصادية مشتركة مع الإمارات، إضافة إلى أن زوجته مقيمة هناك.
أخطر ما يكشفه هذا الاتفاق هو المادة 4.3، التي تمنح الإمارات (الحق في القضاء على أي تهديد لأنشطتها داخل الأراضي الصومالية). وبموجب هذا البند، اعتُبر اعتراض الشيخ عمر عبدي إبراهيم على عمليات التعدين الإماراتية في سَنَاج تهديدًا مباشرًا، فتم اغتياله قانونيًا وفق الصياغة التي اعتمدتها الاتفاقية.
إن ما جرى ليس سوى تنفيذ لقانون الشركات المدعوم بالقوة العسكرية. فالإمارات منحت نفسها ترخيصًا مفتوحًا لتصفية أي شخص يعارض استخراج مواردها عبر أفريقيا، سواء كان زعيمًا قبليًا، ناشطًا، صحفيًا أو قائدًا شبابيًا.
