Grateful to have shared my research on experiences of epistemic justice through both assessment and informed consent models of gender affirming care at @WPATH 2022
(Thank you to @Kinnon_Ross for the photo!)
Our first paper on the healthcare experiences of people discontinuing/reversing gender-affirming interventions is now available in @JAMANetworkOpen !

We are excited to announce that our first peer-reviewed paper will be published early next week! Stay tuned! Until then, here is an infographic presenting some common misconceptions about detransition and nuanced insights from our project findings:
"I'm not cis by any means.. I've probably transitioned 3 or 4 times... Shifts are going to happen with or without medical intervention. We just keep evolving. There should be room for that, without the stigma around #retransitioning or #detransitioning."

I will be presenting at @wpath! Im excited to share my thesis research on epistemic justice within both 'assessment' and 'informed consent' models of gender-affirming care. #trans
Super proud of this brilliant babe @VJMousseau, featured by @DalHealth to talk about their work with @LambdaHealthCA and PhD identifying barriers to health and social services for Black gbtq+MSM
I think we all just matured and an understanding of and broadening of what counts as #trans. And the policing of trans boundaries as like you don't need to necessarily be gender dysphoric in order to count as trans. I think that certainly has helped bring me back into the fold.
The @redetranscanada study analyzed participants’ descriptions of their complex relationships within 2SLGBTQA+ communities and found the following four themes:
1. Experiences of #detransphobia
2. Socio-political context of #detransition
3. Alienation
3. Community solidarity
"I feel really confident in what I'm doing. I feel really unbothered by people's reactions... seeing other people transition and detransition and retransition and just be themselves gives me so much more permission to be myself, even if that changes over time."
- Participant 11
For Pride Month, we will be sharing quotes from participants about their experiences with queer and trans communities. Stay tuned to hear from people who have #detransitioned or #retransitioned talk about their experiences of alienation, inclusion, and need for support.
