Reading @regieroutman's chapter from "Literacy Essentials" on Teaching with Purpose and Authenticity. Love these questions for planning authentic lessons: "How can we engage students' hearts and minds?" and "Why does this matter?" Simple but often overlooked. #litbankstreet

Haven't been in person with students since March 2020. Looking forward to teaching literacy in person again! I've been thinking about challenges if we are required to wear masks, like teaching phonological awareness without kids seeing your mouth. Any thoughts? #litbankstreet

I recently found a piece I wrote in 2nd grade titled "The Day the Teeth Took Over". It was about dentures that took over a town! Spoiler Alert, the character was just in a dream! I was so proud of the twist ending. What writing memories do you have? #litbankstreet
