Saudi Arabia and UAE are surrounded by desert and receives an average annual rainfall of 4 inches with 10 days wet weather per year.

Britain gets threatened with hosepipe bans in summer. The last reservoir to be built in Britain was in 1992. 35 reservoirs have been sold off and dozens more bulk water storage sites - following privatisation of water in 1989.

UAE & Saudi Arabia continue to water everything due to their huge desalination plants.

While the water companies enforce hosepipe bans…water companies in England and Wales lose nearly 3 billion litres of water every day through pipe leaks. This accounts for roughly 20% of the total water supplied. Privatised English water companies have sold off 35 to 40 reservoirs since the 1990s without building any major replacements.

Where are the measures to relieve the water shortage? Why no acceleration of new reservoirs, review of water extraction licences, grants for more farm water storage, use of the desalination plant?

Water companies have been given the green light to increase bills for customers by an extra £3.4bn in coming years to meet demands on maintenance, housebuilding and data centres.

The public are being treated like suckers by the water companies. It’s literally taking the piss.

▪️3 billion litres of waters are lost every day due to network pipe leaks.

▪️35-40 reservoirs have been sold off since the 1990s and no new reservoirs have been built.

▪️Almost 300,000 sewage spills in England alone in 2025.

▪️Over the past decade, UK water company executives have been awarded over £112 million in bonuses and incentive payments.

And now the water companies will hoover up even more money from the public despite their shoddy service provision, hosepipe bans and massive bonuses to company executives.

And therein lies the main problem in Britain. Corporate greed at the public’s expense.
