Imagine a hurricane making landfall on the very day you decide to visit the supermarket or the beach – and imagine facing it without warning. For small island states in the tropics, such a scenario would be catastrophic.

Just a point of information- the government of Jamaica, technically is the ruling party in combination with the opposition party. I see a big ol 50 odd year old Jamaican man on IG in comments saying the opposite. Listen as big ppl it’s important to know politics before you talk.
I suggest it because when the hype dies and ppl stop liking the relief effort posts; ppl will still need help. We have to dig deep and come from the right place with our intentions because the efforts will need to be sustained over a long period.

The election came and went. We endured the brainlessness for several months. Some of you are so addicted to being on a side but politics is not sports; you ppl are gambling on something that affects lives. But we don't care anymore about your silly competition. Shut up 🤐
I just want both parties to understand that in this moment, the list of things we care about does not and cannot include, politics. Not interested in any complaints, rebuttals, who’s right or wrong. We do not care. Our concern right now is for people, not colors.
I’d like to thank the @pulitzercenter for supporting this reporting and creating an opportunity for passage of essential information to the next generation of science journalists.
This past week I was invited along with two other Journalists and past fellows/grantees to speak at an Ocean Symposium at the University of Berkeley’s Journalism School in California as well as The Huston Tilotson University in Austin Texas.
