@riccqi Love this! Native Metal really is the way to go on Mac. I've been working on something similar on top of mcopt (sunsets, god rays, auroras), would be fun to compare notes π
@itsnoahd mcopt is amazing, thanks for open-sourcing it! I built native Metal shaders on top of it: god rays, volumetric clouds, water reflections, auroras. ~140 FPS at 1440p on my M4.
Open source too: https://t.co/8vGprB4OUc
It's an alpha, so back up your worlds.
Needs an Apple Silicon Mac on macOS 26 + Minecraft 26.3 with Fabric and Sodium.

I made native Metal shaders for Minecraft Java on Mac
Shadows, volumetric clouds, god rays, water reflections, auroras. No OpenGL and no Iris.
On my MacBook Pro M4: 135β150 FPS at 1440p and 90β120 FPS at full Retina 3024Γ1964.
Free & open source π

Built on top of @itsnoahd's mcopt, a Metal renderer for Minecraft on Apple Silicon. Every effect is written from scratch in Metal, and it also works with Distant Horizons.
