@shanaschwarz@AmbientSynthy Absolutely! I live near a large football stadium & the road outside my block of flats is closed to traffic on match days to accommodate the large crowds. I have no issues with noisy crowds but when men start their loud chanting I find it very intimidating even when inside my flat
My daughter was issued a detention because her iPad, when she arrived at school, was 93%. The assistant head, who I’ve since emailed, has set the expectation that iPads be no lower than 97% or pupils will be punished.
I’m flummoxed.
Has anyone heard of such nonsense?
@stephenfry Makes sense, perhaps people who don’t swear a lot are more polite and polite people are often less honest with the truth as it can be hurtful! Who knows?
@ClareC_Chapman @kathleenlawther Absolutely! I worked in education departments of museums for years and they generally mean ‘touch’ when using the word ‘handle’.
I thought the tweet reply was a joke at first………..🤭
@Spanglydangly @stephenfry@ChrisGPackham I think we all have many titles to choose from, ‘normal’ is a little unimaginative but even titles that appear ‘normal’ can surely produce stories worth listening to and learning from?
Widely assumed human pain more painful than other species.
But pain’s Darwinian purpose is warning: “Don’t do that again. Next time it might kill you.” So perhaps the more intelligent the species the less pain needed to ram warning home. Animals might suffer more than us.
THE BEST OF OUR COUNTRY
Public donating their own money en mass to the @RNLI because we care about saving all lives at sea.
THE WORST OF OUR COUNTRY
A corrupt government taking a quarter of a £billion from the public purse to fund their own party yacht.
Complaining that you got COVID despite being vaccinated is like complaining your ribs hurt when you've been shot in the chest wearing body armour.
The body armour is the reason you can still complain.
Yesterday, for the first time in a couple of years I posted a painting by Rebecca Lardner . I got lots of comments about her houses. Some lovely but a couple said the houses looked sad. I like them but some do look surprised!
