So delighted that my dear friend Constable Sukhvinder Singh Sunger of the Vancouver Police Department has made global headlines for a historic appearance at the prestigious Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Scotland. Sukhvinder became the first turbaned Sikh Drum Major to lead the Vancouver Police Pipe Band. In 2021, Constable Sukhvinder and I made this video together in Victoria, BC. I am excited to share that joyful moment.

The Ontario Ministry of Health, via Ontario Public Drug Programs, confirms…kinda sorta…that Nuvaxovid will be available (and publicly funded) in the province for the 2026 vaccination program!

This is essentially what I’ve been saying the entire time - we should be expecting a return to most provinces, but at the same time, pressure still needs to be applied to ensure that becomes a reality and that an adequate and accessible supply is made available.

I’m glad that we’re finally hearing this from an official ministry outlet, but at the same time, it also feels like it’s getting a bit late in the season to be so wishy-washy on this. Lots of the usual right wing accounts on here naively commenting on Iceland's referendum on negotiating to join the EU.

Iceland is already much more closely aligned to the EU than Britain - it is part of the single market and within the Schengen border free zone, meaning the free movement of goods and people. People from Iceland can live and work anywhere they like within the EU and vice versa.

So why have they narrowly rejected negotiating for full membership? In a world - fish. Fishing is a big deal to Iceland (as anyone old enough to remember the cod wars will attest). It contributes around 12% of the country's GDP and 40% of its export earnings.

In case you're wondering fishing contributes about 0.12% of the UK's GDP. EU fishing boats continue to access UK waters post Brexit, because the UK wants to export seafood to the EU (British consumers aren't keen on the most common catches)

So ask those celebrating Iceland's freedom if they'd be happy for the UK to have the same deal...
