GOOD NEWS: Kiran Pahal, M.R. Poovamma, Prachi, Vithya Ramraj take a bow. In an Asian Games where we’ve been waiting to strike gold in athletics, your wonderful quartet has kept up a proud Indian tradition of women shining at the Asian Games. Salute! Jai Ho! 🇮🇳
From a truck driver’s daughter in Coimbatore to Asian Games history.
Vithya Ramraj grew up in Meenakshipuram with her identical twin Nithya. Their father Ramraj drove extra shifts. Their mother Meena enrolled them in the Erode sports hostel from Class 7 after a PE teacher spotted them — the family could not afford training otherwise. Hockey first. Athletics next. Years of struggle, a sports-quota BBA, and a twin who later paid for her training when money ran out.
At Asian Games 2026 she delivered: 🥇 Women’s 4x400m relay (anchor) 🥈 Mixed 4x400m relay (anchor) 🥉 Women’s 400m hurdles — 54.75s, National Record
She finally broke PT Usha’s 42-year-old mark and became the first Indian woman under 55 seconds. Three events. Three medals. Anchor legs that counted.
What a campaign. What a journey. 🫡
Pure class! 🇮🇳
She definitely wasn’t in a Gold Medal position when she received the baton. But from there on, she proved she belongs to a different class.
What a finish! 🔥
Proud of all four. Proud of you, Vithya. ❤️
You made the difference! 🇮🇳🏆

Well Actually There are Two Very Similar Songs. What we are seeing here is one of those with words - Rafta Raftab Woh *Mere Dil Ke Armaan* Ho Gaye - written by Qamar Jalalabadi which was written in 1966 for the film Ham Kahan Ja Rahe Hain (featured in the tweet above). A decade later, in 1975 Tasleem Fazli (original name Izhar Anwar), who incidentally is younger brother of noted Indian Ghazal writer - Nida Fazli, wrote a similar worded song Rafta Raft Woh *Meri Hasti Ka Saaman* Ho Gaye for a Pakistani film Zeenat in 1975 (as he had migrated to Pakistan in 1965). Mehdi Hasan sang *this version* in many live concerts and recordings over the next 2 decades and it's *overwhelmingly identified as his ghazal* today. Most listeners do not even know about the other version written and filmed a decade earlier in 1966! Hope you enjoyed this little nugget ( Courtesy AI - Claude )
