i got the call by 2:13 am

my dad had been rushed to the hospital. i didn’t even think, i threw on my shoes and ran to my car.

by the time i reached

she was already there, sitting in the waiting room, holding my hand like she’d been there for hours. she didn’t even panic or asked questions i couldn’t answer

she just stayed
brought me coffee
held my jacket and kept me grounded while the hospital chaos swirled around us.

weeks later, when everything settled, i realized she hadn’t just shown up for me that night, she had shown up for every “what if” i hadn’t even said out loud but had in mind...

that was when when i understood that marriage isn’t about the grand gestures, it’s about who sits beside you when life refuses to wait
