I went through and fact checked this it’s all true

- Glassdoor estimates her husband’s income at $480,000 per year
- She did work, quit and didn’t have to work because her husbands income have
- They had nanny/ housekeeping help
- Lived in a very nice home
- Their family was in the “upper middle class” category
- Grandparents helped, kids went to school and husband worked at home all true

This is not someone who deserves anyone’s sympathy. This is someone who had all the resources possibly available at her disposal

I’m outraged that New York let another rampant Medicaid fraud case run for years in New York City and it only got addressed because the feds stepped in.

Even worse, the perpetrator just got sentenced Wednesday to only six years for turning Medicaid into a personal cash machine. That’s all the jail time Zakia Khan, 55, got after running two Coney Island adult daycares, Happy Family and Family Social, that billed about $64 million for care that never happened from 2017 to 2024, and Medicaid still paid her about $56 million.

A hidden camera caught her smiling while she stacked kickback cash for an undercover officer posing as a client. That’s not a paperwork mix-up, that’s blatant theft with a grin.

Judge Natasha Merle sentenced Khan to 76 months in Brooklyn federal court and ordered $56 million in restitution plus $5 million in forfeiture, including property, cash, and gold jewelry from her home. She paid bribes so people would enroll and sign for services they never got. The program meant for the old and the sick became her ATM. This is truly despicable behavior. She robbed people who actually needed Medicaid. She should’ve gotten 20 years in jail for this.

New York talks like every extra dollar is impossible. Then a daycare owner in Coney Island extracts tens of millions for phantom visits and the city shrugs until the feds walk in with a camera. Where was New York State or New York City in all of this? Unbelievable indifference and laziness by both.

What Khan did was not an accounting error, it was a business model. She deliberately robbed the taxpayer of Medicaid funds and laughed about it.

If a squatter (Vernon Glass) can occupy a house in Bayside for years and a daycare owner (Zakia Khan) can drain a Medicaid budget in Brooklyn for seven, the problem isn’t one man who changed a lock on a house he stole or one woman who manufactured countless health claims. The problem is a system that makes this kind of theft easier than honesty. The only real way to make cities and states start caring about this fraud is to defund the ones that allow it.
