Can we talk about how Lagos breathes in @jadeosiberu ‘s movies!!!
She does it so well mhennn. The way she characterizes Lagos is on another level. Take out Lagos from these stories, and you will see that some of the characters, or even the story itself is incomplete.

For me, the biggest question in the film is: If your identity was handed to you by the place you were born… how do you become someone else?
I really love the identity crisis hidden beneath GOL. 🎭

Most people think Gangs of Lagos is a gangster film.🧵

I think it’s a film about identity. The most powerful line for me in the film was not a threat or a political speech… “You start on the street until you become ẹleniyàn.”
That line says everything not just about Isale Eko.

You already know the city isn’t just a location, it’s a character.
As a filmmaker, that’s one of the things I admired most.
While shooting my short film Borrowed Sky, I deliberately filmed a scene at Marina because I wanted Lagos to speak, not just to serve as a backdrop.
