Lead and governed by fear, war is prevalent in every citizens’ mind. Aside from the capital city, South Sudan is a war zone. As the elite get fat, 99% are left to starve and fend for themselves.

As for me, I am not sure about South Sudan’s future, and I've completely lost confidence in ALL of its leaders. The country currently has a one-party system and does not have true independent thinkers to progress and live up to its promise.

One classmate said it would take 70 years for South Sudan to be socially and economically sustainable. When he said that, I lost it. Hindsight is 20/20, and we were both wrong.

In college, I was so optimistic about South Sudan. I would debate classmates and try to sell them on the country thriving in 10-15 tears. Boy, was I wrong!
