Best guess how many major league hitters could touch 96+ right now. You don’t see difference between Caglione being drafted and the org says we like your upside as a hitter or him being an unrestricted free agent where he says I’ll only sign with a team that lets me hit and also throw 100 from the left side. Once the choice becomes sign him as a 2 way player or don’t sign him, teams will allow him to develop 2 ways. When they draft him and hold the exclusive rights it’s different
Skenes hit .400 with 10 bombs as a college freshman but was to good of a pitcher to be allowed to hit. Judge was a stud pitcher.
Hunter Greene was the top ranked hitter in the country in high school…. Harper was throwing what 96 at 16
The reality is that as amazing as ohtani is if he was drafted he would be developed as a pitcher or a hitter.
@travisinLB Didn’t see anyone say it but seems obvious. Batter also challenged so if pitch is callsed a strike batter challenged and if it’s overturned and called a ball then doesn’t matter rushing challenged since it would have been overturned anyways.
@BigBobsCards Russell was one of my man targets from draft but literally seemed to lose evey big auction by $5. Did get 2 true golds for like 60-70 each.
Loved Riley Quick more and did win a few big ones there
I’m always surprised people don’t talk about Ryan’s K numbers (in terms of K/9) and not counting stats.
If he was sitting like 98-103 or god knows what people think and touching 108 his K/9 would have been approaching 20. He was also facing much worse hitters even though people will claim modern hitters suck becuase they hit .240 against 98 mph splitters.
In short nobody that touches 108 has a K/9 beteeen 8-10
