The energy companies will be taking £10bn from April in Standing charges for an Electricity Network that costs £0.15bn to maintain.

A profit of 98.5%, and less than 3 years ago the Standing Charge was only £3.5bn a year.

The Standing Charge by itself pays for 2/3rds of UK gas.
