As I get further & further priced out of the modern sports card market, please join me as I revisit the cards I already have and reflect on those moments in time the best I can.

If there's a 2027 season, there are 169 days until Cubs Opening Day on March 25th.
Here is one of several cards #169 from my Cubs collection:
2023 Topps Heritage - #169 Zach McKinstry
A Cubs short timer, this card (and its parallels) are McKinstry's only Topps card with the Cubs. He has a Panini National Treasures card that is credited as Cubs but is clearly a Dodgers uniform.
The photo for this card was taken on September 13, 2022 at Citi Field against the Mets. I wouldn't look up the box score if I were you but let's just say Golden Sombrero🤐

@mjmike2323 Looks like something out of Gyspy Queen or Ginter, not Finest and I think that's what makes the superfractor-ness of it look weird. The vintage-esque designs shouldn't be shiny, IMO.
If there's a 2027 season, there are 170 days until Cubs Opening Day on March 25th.
Here is one of several cards #170 from my Cubs collection:
2020 Topps Gypsy Queen - #170 Kyle Schwarber
On July 28, 2019, Kyle Schwarber hit a grand slam against the Milwaukee Brewers in an 11-4 drubbing. The post-swing admiration is captured here on the card.

I went to high school in Michigan and was at a conference at Michigan State around the time (1995?) they announced the franchise moving there or revealing the Lugnuts name change or something like that. I don't remember all the details, but it was a big deal for Lansing. I remembered being excited when they became the Cubs affiliate a few years later.
Do you follow/collect the Cubs minor league affiliates or just the Cubs?
If there's a 2027 season, there are 171 days until Cubs Opening Day on March 25th.
Here is one of several cards #171 from my Cubs collection:
2016 Topps Pro Debut - #171 Albert Almora (Tennessee Smokies)
The photo for this card was taken on April 25, 2015, in Kodak, Tennessee. The Smokies are still the Cubs AA affiliate but have since relocated to Knoxville.

OTD in 2022, the Cubs finished out the regular season with a bang, defeating the Reds 15-2.
David Bote led the way with 5 RBI and this #ToppsNow card, #1025. This card had a print run of 369 (damn she fine).

@DutchLedgerman@TonyFarlow That is awesome! A lot of the minor league cards are hard to find source images for. Topps generally uses Getty, but not always true for MiLB cards
@rurban023@TonyFarlow Some of the documentaries and specials seem like they would be a great watch, but not enough to get me to pay when I get the games free through MLBTV. Maybe I'll pay for a month over the offseason and binge 😂
@PaulMeyer512@TonyFarlow I've got full runs of base Pro Debut and Heritage, as well as the inserts and some of the parallels, relics and autos. The team issued sets I have complete going back to 2015 when the current affiliates all joined on. I'm adding other sets as I can from previous affiliates.
@rurban023@TonyFarlow I'm an out of market Cubs fan so I need to figure out whether Marquee is worth paying for. I get MLBTV for free through my cell phone provider and at one point had MiLBTV.
I love watching the homegrown players as they come up!
@rurban023@TonyFarlow Awesome!
I try to pick up the team issued sets every year for all the affiliates and definitely like Pro Debut and Heritage Minors when that was a thing.
🚨Another Game Dated Bears Takeover🚨
Bears Win!
Let's take a look at today's player of the game Kyle Monangai and his 2026 Topps Flagship base card, #
33.
On October 19, 2025, Monangai rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown and caught 2 passes for another 13 yards in a 26-14 win over the Saints at Soldier Field.
