@lauriewired ME! I had a TR 3960X and I installed the leaked W11 beta. TPM wasn't hard-required yet, but I enabled it anyway. I narrowed my new audio issues to TPM and I bought an add-on on NewEgg for $50 as a Hail Mary. Problem solved. I shared this result in the LTT forums to much chagrin.
@lauriewired Been coding in PHP for nearly 2 years. I learned it as a kid even when a teacher told me "It's too hard. Pick another hobby." I've been a pro SWE for 15 years. Glad I didn't listen to her
Anyway, I went through a phase in which I put $ before variables even in non-PHP languages.
@lauriewired My biggest issue is that Wayland and Xorg both have poor support for multiple resolutions at once. My two main displays are 3840x2160 but I have a third display that's ultra-wide at 5120x2160. The tearing is *real* when all three are on and I'm doing anything but coding.
@lauriewired Yeah. Hard pass. I find LLM's to be helpful in tiny bursts, and it often takes more time wrangling them to stop making stupid mistakes than it would have taken me to just code it myself.
@_andrewthecoder@lauriewired I wrote a simple API using Symfony (I know it well) for work. I kept track: 73% of the code made by paid Claude 4.5 was wrong and required me to fix it.
Its not just you.
I'm sure most people who make big claims are like that guy whose vibe-coded app was hacked in seconds.
@lauriewired In 2012 I was building a PHP app for univ. research. The code itself looked fine (I showed many people) but the output was usually wrong and not always in the same way. Finally after a week of going crazy I threw a Hail Mary and disabled opcache. Voila! Thanks Zend: stale opcodes
@MKBHD Boy, oh boy, did I go kicking and screaming into the Gestures camp back when it was first introduced, but now buttons feel so...time-wastey and slow.
@lauriewired I spent a full weekend back in February segmenting my network (a to-do list item I've had for years) into "IoT," "VMs," and "Trusted."
Everything works as it should, and I don't lose sleep over the $10 PTZ camera from China that stares at one of my enclosed 3D printers.
@Levikonn@ModernVintageG Damn, you got a raw deal. Regular Pringles are like saddle-shaped rice cakes.
I also got Orange Cream coke, but in a 20oz bottle.
@diannahaze Early boarding group means I can stay away from people at the gate, tooโno need to worry about seating, overhead storage, or any of the other stresses associated with Coach.
@diannahaze I have one kidney (a recent development) which put me in the penultimate risk level for COVID.
Doctor's orders were "1st class, if you can afford it."
I can, with moderation; I can say that it makes a huge difference. More literal breathing room, fewer people, etc.
@lauriewired I asked an iptables question that caused a 17-minute reasoning session.
It was dead-wrong and suggested that I drop all traffic in both directions, unless the origin was a 10. subnet (128. was defined in the question.)
@thephysicsgirl Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart are A++.
Starlink is also a really fun, methodical game; a balanced mixture of gathering and action like Zelda, with Star Fox making a titillating cameo (I *badly* want another SF title.)
Sonic: Frontiersโexcellent.
