Roblox is acquiring Morpheus A.I. (3D procedural generation). The plan is to combine that expertise with their A.I. staff that joined in 2025.
The end state would see the Roblox engine handle object permanence inside A.I. procedurally generated worlds.

It isn't clear what these comments are meant to convey, but Amazon Games (if it exists) will likely have SOME kind of stake in a future James Bond title.
What exactly what is, from a game production standpoint, is hard to pin down at this point.

Control Resonant's early release period is only on #PlayStation.
I genuinely don't care that money exchanges hands and a company (Sony in this case) pays for early access to a game. I'm more curious to know how MUCH money needs to be exchanged to make this kind of deal a "yes" decision.
You know what I mean? How much did Sony need to wave in front of them, OR cover in some other form (dev fees, higher revenue share, marketing, etc.) to convince them to take the deal.
Are we talking millions? Six figures? Less? More? What is two days early access worth to the seller and the buyer? If it's in better revenue share, what was the split?
@Fdruid@DadBodPaladin It doesn't matter who it is, Apple, Sony, MSFT, etc., market expansion strategies eventually change to market protection.
Tale as old as time (or at least business).
What about #GodofWar Laufey?
It's not a game that I plan on playing, nor do I care if it contains Faye, Kratos, or Mickey Mouse. I played GoW 2018 when it came to PC. It was "good" but I never felt the need to play the sequel, or anything following it. The franchise does nothing for me.
The market will ultimately decide the fate of these games, just like it does everything else. The idea that it's "woke" doesn't really concern me. The game will move units, or fail to do so, based on the product itself.
To me, everything about a game is an attribute of the product. It's like the shape of a car, or performance capabilities, or features. It's part of the product. The product either moves units, or doesn't, based on what it is. π€·ββοΈ
@rpwbrowne I still have fond memories of GoW 1 (original). It really broke the mold of what an action game can be.
GoW 2018 was good too, great in many ways, but once I played it, I didn't see the need to play the sequel. Probably just because I'm older now.
@kyledagrade I can see why these deals are attractive to Remedy, considering their historical battle with breaking even, especially over the last few years.
Whether it's free marketing, or just a straight up cash payment, Remedy probably sees these deals as helping protect their bottom line.
@nevrnewd I also debate what this actually does for Sony in, real, tangible numbers. Its not as simple as just counting the early access people on PlayStation, because we don't have a proper A-B test of an alternative scenario.
@potatomuskrat@HoegLaw It's all about the natural reaction of characters, and for some people, it feels "real.". When it becomes how everyone reacts to everything all of the time, it feels forced and, well, fake.
Playerunknown Productions is downsizing. Development work on Go Wayback will end.
Go Wayback was meant to test the procedural tech that would, potentially, generate untold miles of realistic terrain.
Development on their Melba technology will continue.
@Joseph_La_Russa I mean, isn't that how it's intended to work?
We all make decisions about what makes sense for our free time, preferences, and quite frankly, return for that time spent.
For me, the constant losing control back to show another "thing" is jarring. I'm of the opinion that games need to steer away from that.
And yes, I'd say the same thing about any game that does that, this isn't really directed at GoW. The new Monster Hunter did this constantly, and it was terrible.
@NerdPropellant@DogTheCynic The thing that immediately jumped out at me is that the first 10 minutes are basically unplayable. It's all one big cut scene, maybe even longer.
