This one has been around FOREVER and people still get caught because seeing money appear in your account makes everything suddenly feel legitimate.

Here’s what happens:

➡️ A scammer offers you a large amount of money but claims they can “only use checks.”

➡️ They send you a check and tell you to deposit it.

➡️ The money may appear in your available balance before your bank has finished determining whether the check is actually legitimate.

➡️ Now comes the scam. Suddenly there’s a “processing fee,” an “unlock fee,” an accidental overpayment or some other ridiculous reason why YOU need to return part of that money.

➡️ You send your own real money back.

➡️ Later, the bank discovers the check is fraudulent and reverses the deposit.

The scammer is gone. The imaginary money disappears. The money YOU sent was real.

That is the entire trick.

Seeing funds temporarily appear in your account does NOT prove a check is legitimate.

And please remember the easiest rule of all: if a stranger promises you money but somehow needs YOU to pay a fee first, stop.

You are not unlocking anything. You are being scammed. 🚩
