Master Streaming: How to Use the @DJIGlobal Osmo Pocket 3 for Twitch, YouTube, and More
I will be making a YouTube video that will go over this with visual instructions, asap. But here is a text version to get you started in the meantime!
If you're streaming to YouTube, great! You don't even need to do anything extra, just download the DJI Mimo app on your phone, connect your Osmo Pocket 3 and then select "YouTube" from the live streaming options!
If you are familiar with RTMP and already have one setup, you simply need to enter this in the DJI Mimo app under livestreaming > RTMP. That's it, you can skip the rest of the tutorial!
If you simply wish to use this as a webcam, connect via USB - EASY! Plug it into your PC, select "webcam" on the camera screen. You're done!
Option 1: Skip the DIY! Stream to Twitch with overlays using RTMP [Paid RTMP Service]
If you want to skip the DIY setup and get up and running within like 5 minutes, you can use @IRLtools which is a paid service.
Go here: https://t.co/vWuCBmcecg
You have multiple options depending on what you need.
[For simple streaming setups]
If you only need to input your stream into your OBS on your PC at home, you can use their $13/month RTMP Relay (scroll down the website). IrlTools were kind enough to set me up with one of these to test out for you guys! It's really as simple as just copy pasting the URL they give you into the DJI Mimo app under livestreaming > RTMP. Open up OBS and add a media source - Uncheck "local file" and put your RTMP url in the "input" section. You're done. Takes maybe 5 minutes max.
[For complex streaming setups]
If you wish to use OBS remotely in the cloud, without needing your own home internet or PC turned on (super helpful for people like me travelling to Europe next month for Twitch con, I obviously don't want to leave my PC on for 3 weeks!) you can select one of their higher plans.
Their Basic plan $60/Month gives you OBS in the cloud + a ton of options but is limited when it comes to how many browser sources you can have in your OBS. So if you have lots of sources and such, you'd need the $80/Month plan. IRLTools also offers custom solutions if you need something a bit extra!!
Option 2: Streaming to Twitch WITHOUT Overlays [Free - Super easy]
Super simple way to get started if you don't care about alerts.
1. Go to https://t.co/5zL6mGAIoS - select your region.
2. Copy paste the rtmp URL into the Dji Mimo app (under livestreaming > rtmp) and replace "{stream_key}" with your Twitch Stream key (you can find this in your twitch dashboard). That’s it, you’re done.
Note: Because you are streaming direct to Twitch, if you have any dropouts/disconnects your stream will end
Option 3: DIY Streaming to Twitch with Overlays using RTMP [FREE]
Okay! Get ready because this part requires patience. It’s actually a lot easier than it seems but because there isn’t as much information out there, it was very frustrating for me so I’ve compiled it below for you:
Step 1: Download NGINX. Select code > download zip and extract
https://t.co/V4EFvBgsIu
Step 2: Open port 1935 on your router
Okay so this was the part that did my head in.
1. You’ll need to go to your router’s admin panel. Usually something like 192.168.1.1 - It will be under the advanced options.
2. Open a port and name it “Nginx”. Select TCP/UDP.
For the port number you want 1935 (if there is an option for multiple ports use the same number).
3. To get the IP address that you need to input, open CMD and type “ipconfig”. Hit enter and look for IPv4 - input this. Hit apply. Restart your router.
If this does not work, you may need to contact your ISP and request that they opt you out of CGNAT or it won’t work!!!
Step 3: Run NGINX
Open the folder that you extracted the nginx download into and run the nginx executable. It will look like nothing has happened, but it will show up in your task manager if you’ve done everything correctly.
Step 4: Add your RTMP to OBS
Open up OBS and add a new media source. Uncheck “local” an input the following:
rtmp://yourip:1935/live - replace yourip with your IP address. You can find this by googling “what is my IP”.
Step 5: Add your RTMP to the Osmo Pocket 3
1. Copy paste the RTMP address and open the DJI Mimo app.
2. Connect your Pocket 3, swipe until you get to the “Livestream” tab, select “RTMP” and paste the RTMP address.
3. Hit go live and if you’ve done everything correctly you should see your camera’s video feed show up in OBS.
There are also really cool things you can do like automatic scene switching if your bitrate is too low (bad connection) and other things using NOALBS- but that will be for a different tutorial!!
If you get stuck and have any questions I am more than happy to do my best to answer them and walk you through it.
