🎮 Blood of Dawnwalker's 40-hour average questioned after 15-hour run
Rebel Wolves stated earlier this year that The Blood of Dawnwalker would take around 40 hours on average, but an Insider Gaming journalist completed the vampire RPG in 15 hours while playing on story mode. The studio, backed by former CD Projekt Red talent, will launch the game on September 3 at a price of $60–$70.
The journalist finished the main story and most side content, defeated mini bosses, unlocked ultimate skills, and explored the full map, finishing within 20 in-game days and leaving 10 spare. Another Insider Gaming team member needed 30 hours to platinum the game using save cheese, suggesting the 40-hour average may be inflated. Missing features such as photomode, transmog, and new game plus were noted as gaps that should be addressed in post-launch updates.

🎮 Take-Two requests sealed Discord subpoena in GTA 6 leak hunt
Take-Two has asked a court to issue a second subpoena to Discord and to keep the request sealed as it pursues the people behind the Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks. The Rockstar parent company previously filed public subpoena requests targeting Discord, Microsoft, and X after leaked footage spread two weeks ago.
The first Discord subpoena sought data on hundreds of thousands of users and drew criticism for its scope. The new filing, made on 28 August according to TorrentFreak, identifies one additional Discord user and extra identifying information for a previously identified user, though the targets are redacted. Take-Two argued sealing is needed to prevent leakers from being tipped off.
The subpoena has not been issued and a judge has not approved keeping it sealed, so the 'highly sensitive, confidential information' could still become public. The leaks were believed to have been used to inflate a bespoke cryptocurrency, with the leakers cashing out about $270,000.

🎮 Star Wars Zero Company team mostly furloughed before launch
Game File’s Stephen Totilo reported that up to 80% of Bit Reactor's team was furloughed or terminated before Star Wars Zero Company launched, as funding dried up. Leadership was unsure about the post-launch roadmap, and only a skeleton crew remained for bug fixes. One source said the team concealed the furloughs before release, and some doubt everyone would get old jobs back.
The game has since reached a peak of 77,889 concurrent Steam players, a 77% positive rating from more than 10,000 Steam reviews, and a Metascore of 85. The single-player turn-based tactics title includes recognizable elements of the sci-fi universe. The future for impacted employees remains unclear.

🎮 Bodycam studio temporarily disables in-game shop
Reissad has temporarily disabled the in-game store in Bodycam as part of an interface rework. The studio said it wanted to focus on the game itself and accelerate the release of the upcoming update, adding that a shop should be an addition to the game, not the priority. The studio also confirmed there will be no real-money purchases in this update.
The change was announced ahead of the Locked and Loaded update, which arrives on September 2 and is the largest update in the game's history. A recent playtest of the update pushed Bodycam to its highest player count since its early access launch on Steam in June 2024, and the title reached three million wishlists on August 30.

🏆 Vitality beat FUT to take final BLAST Porto playoff spot
Vitality secured the final playoff berth at BLAST Open Porto on 31 August after a 2-0 win over FUT in Group B’s lower bracket, taking Anubis 13-7 and Dust2 13-8.
The win completed a lower-bracket recovery: Vitality had opened the event with a 0-2 loss to Inner Circle in their debut with Justinas “jL” Lekavicius as stand-in, then beat 9z, Legacy, and FUT to claim the last playoff spot.
FUT arrived in Denmark straight from a run to the Esports World Cup finals, and the lack of reset time showed as their aggression was repeatedly punished.

🏆 karrigan: Falcons picked Ancient to expand map pool
Falcons player Finn "karrigan" Andersen said after the BLAST Open Porto group stage that his team kept picking Ancient to expand its map pool, but the pick has not worked so far. 'We've tried three times this event and it's not working out,' he said; Falcons still advanced to the playoffs with a victory over Legacy, but lost their series to MOUZ after winning one map and struggled against Lynn Vision in their opener.
According to karrigan, the repeated Ancient picks came because the team has played too much Dust2. 'We have played too much Dust2 and, for this reasoning, we need to play other maps as well,' he added, noting it was their fifth Nuke in the past 90 days. He sees useful data from official matches and says there are still things to fix during officials.

🏆 Jimpphat says Aurora's mentality collapsed in BLAST Open Porto loss to G2
Jimi "Jimpphat" Salo said Aurora's mentality collapsed after a double-overtime loss on Inferno in their elimination match against G2 at BLAST Open Porto. The team won Anubis, then lost Inferno and struggled on Mirage, where players went quiet and frustrated after losing a Deagle round.
"The mental part we need to work on it, and as a team it's a big problem for us. This is the next thing we really need to figure out and sort it out from our way, because it's holding us [back] a lot," he told HLTV. The former MOUZ player added that the new international roster is still figuring things out, and this exit follows a round of 16 finish at Esports World Cup.

🎮 Sony CEO: focus is monetizing current PS5 players, not console sales
Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki said the company is in the latter half of the PlayStation 5 lifecycle and no longer needs to aggressively sell the console. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal's Tokyo bureau chief Jason Douglas, he said Sony is now focusing on recurring revenue from its current user base.
Douglas noted the PS5 was in 93 million homes, and Totoki said PS Plus has 125 million monthly active users. 'How to monetize from the users is quite important for us,' he said. In May 2026, PS5 was on the cusp of 100 million lifetime units sold.

Aurora took Anubis 7-13 and had G2 on the brink on Inferno, where Özgür "woxic" Eker's back-to-back quad-kills and a second overtime pushed the map to 19-16. On Mirage, Aurora won only the first pistol round; Artem "r1nkle" Moroz's 1v4 clutch and a 13-1 finish sealed the spot.

🎮 Battlestate Games details major Lighthouse overhaul in Escape from Tarkov
Battlestate Games has detailed a major overhaul for the long-criticized Lighthouse map in Escape from Tarkov, the decade-old extraction shooter. The Rogue enemies move from the water treatment plant to a fortified chalet area, leaving the plant less contested for quests, while a new UN checkpoint on the main road provides cover from the chalet.
- New points of interest: Rogue caches, abandoned outposts, observation posts, and an underground tunnel through the cliffs
- PMC spawns are more isolated, with new cliffs, rocks, and vegetation supplying early-raid cover
- A BTR driver now patrols Lighthouse, making it the third map with BTR coverage
- All landmines are removed except those marking the boundary and protecting Lightkeeper's island
- USEC PMCs no longer get preferential treatment from Rogues and will be shot like BEARs

🎮 Former id Software producer: Revelations crunch was worst in DOOM history
Former id Software producer Andrew Willis said development of DOOM: The Dark Ages – Revelations was the hardest stretch for many in the history of the DOOM franchise. In an interview with Kiwi Talkz, he said he worked at least 12 hours every day for two months, some days 17 hours, and weeks in which he reached at least 80 hours; most of the expansion was made in three or four months.
Willis called the overtime a blurry line, not an official company mandate, but said the workload made it feel like "pseudo-induced crunch". Colleagues who had worked 20 years in Hollywood and 10 years in game development told him it was the worst crunch they had taken part in.
He said he and dozens of others were laid off from id Software one day before the expansion's July release as part of Xbox's latest round of sweeping layoffs.

Join Us lets players establish a cult, recruit followers, survive the apocalypse, and play solo or in co-op with up to four players. Wolf Haus bleeped the names of the groups the four belonged to; a teaser from Gamescom 2026 shows the playtest.
Join Us is slated to release in March 2027 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

🎮 Xbox CEO won't confirm Project Helix disc drive
In a BBC interview, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma declined to say whether Microsoft's next console, Project Helix, will include a disc drive. Asked directly twice if Helix will be disc-less, she said the company is "not sharing more on Helix" and promised to share information soon.
Project Helix is described as a console-and-PC hybrid, with development kits not going out until next year. Sharma instead announced a disc-to-digital initiative giving players with 1,000 physical disc titles a digital entitlement, and reiterated that Xbox has long pioneered backwards compatibility and added PC back compat.
