@8biteric They want live service money. If not, they want to further monetize their platform. Based on last year's revenue the platform and the console made over 65% of their income. Games were less than 35% as that's the maximum business single player games can do.

@MugenLord I believe this was supposed to be an open world logan and jean grey game. At some point, devs made a hard pivot towards solo logan action adventure game. What you are witnessing are remnants of that hard pivot. That trail exists to hide some problems.

@JackmoveJohnny I believe this was supposed to be a Wolverine and Jean open world game. They downsized to Wolverine linear adventure game mid way through development. That would explain everything.
