I find it so striking that Verso’s theme is made up entirely of piano. There’s something in that delicate sound that feels unmistakably like him: not only his deep love for music, but also the loss, pain, and quiet tragedy he carries with him. Even though the melody is gentle and beautiful, it still makes my chest ache every time I hear it, because it feels like the music is touching the very core of who he is.
When I heard this piece for the first time at the orchestral concert, the piano felt as though it was giving voice to Verso’s soul, and I couldn’t stop crying. To me, this isn’t just a character theme. It feels like a requiem Verso is playing for himself.
