A challenge for us all today! Make sure everyone around you has a clear understanding on what the process is for a student to reach out & get help. Whether it be for mental health & well being or bullying, or simply to ensure every child has a connection. Go! #MentalHealthMatters
"Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply. They're either speaking or preparing to speak. They're filtering everything through their own paradigms, reading their autobiography into other people's lives." -Stephen R. Covey #QOTD
It’s good when administrators assume that teachers want to be excellent in their job. It’s good when teachers assume that their students want to succeed in school. High expectations usually help others become the best version of themselves.
5 Reasons kids misbehave & detach:
- Attention (somebody “see me”)
- Power/control (home life = mess)
- Competence (can’t do the work)
- Belonging (don’t fit in)
- Awareness (literally unaware)

When some students leave your class, they might never get another teacher like you. You might be that one teacher who inspires them to become more than they ever imagined. Even though you're tired, BELIEVE! Your work is not in vain.
The narrative about our kids being behind is a narrative created by those saying that they are behind.
Kids don’t need to catch up.
We need to meet them where they are at by shattering the monolithic thinking that each kid can be summarized by all kids.
