Not from the rich. Not from big borrowers.
From the poorest accounts in the system.
Their crime? They didn’t have enough money.
A farmer misses the minimum balance - Penalty.
A pensioner withdraws money for medicine - Penalty.
A daily wage worker falls short by a few hundred rupees - Penalty.
The poor keep money in banks for safety. Not to be quietly fined for being poor.
Financial inclusion should protect small savings, not punish small balances.
In Parliament today I proposed ending minimum balance penalties so the banking system stops charging people for their poverty.

Family A
Both spouses earn ₹10 lakh each.
Total household income is ₹20 lakh.
Tax: zero
Family B
One spouse earns ₹20 lakh. The other stays home to raise their child.
Total household income is ₹20 lakh.
Tax: ₹1.92 lakh
The only difference is how the salary is split between the two spouses.

@YESBANK , blocking account on account of reKYC of joint account holder 2 times in last 3 years - for a Salary account is pure harassment. RBI guidelines is 8-10 years unless high risk. Shocked I fall into high risk category.

When 80 Minutes Wasn't Enough to Save a Life

Yuvraj Mehta, 27, stood on his sinking car for nearly 80 minutes, screaming "Papa, save me. I don't want to die."
His father heard him. Police saw him. Fire brigade arrived. SDRF came. NDRF joined. Everyone watched.
Nobody entered the water.
The reasons? Fog. Cold water. Iron rods below. Too dangerous, they said.
A delivery boy tried saving him with a rope. He failed, but at least he tried. This unknown hero showed more courage than all the trained rescue teams combined.
His car Grand Vitara had fallen into a 70-foot drain through a broken wall in Noida Sector 150 at around 12:20 AM.
At 1:45 am, Yuvraj's screams stopped. He drowned just meters away from his helpless father and dozens of officials.
Locals had complained about this dangerous spot many times before. The Noida Authority ignored them.
Only after Yuvraj died did they finally dump debris there.
This young techie was his family's only earning member after losing his mother two years ago. His retired father now sits alone, haunted by his son's last words.
This is the India we live in... where help arrives but rescue doesn't. Where a delivery boy has more heart than entire rescue teams. Where we fix problems only after someone dies.
Yuvraj deserved better. Every citizen deserves better.

@clubmahindra It’s so annoying. First become a member and then be harassed with calls. If I need to book a holiday I will. You can’t force me to. As is the availability works like the Railway bookings. At least there the option of Tatkal exists.
@clubmahindra and the non stop calls from your call centre continue. Why not spend money in opening more properties that you waste on call centre people calling. Atleast booking will be easier and not like railway booking when people need to do 3 months advance planning.
@clubmahindra being a member does not mean I have to receive multiple calls and be reminded of the mistake I have done. I will book a holiday if I need to . Non stop
Calls are not enabling customer service , they are unwanted.
