Can’t believe it 30 years to the day (1st Sept 1993) that I first appeared in @GardenNewsmag with a feature on soil testing! It was a newspaper format back then and most pages were still black & white. It’s a great mag and I’m delighted to still write for it.

This is the week!! My long-awaited new book, RHS The Winter Garden is out on 7th September!
I've been wanting to write this one for years...
Available soon, from all the usual places! @The_RHS@dkbooks@GdnMediaGuild@GardenNewsmag
Delighted to see my feature on the National Collection of hardy tradescantia in this week’s @GardenNewsmag
I spent a happy morning photographing the collection and learning about how to grow these beautiful flowers.

When you have a tomato like this, what can you do?
Save the seeds of course!
Start saving seeds by scooping them out, placing them in a jar or water for a few days until they go a little mouldy on top. This process breaks the jelly down that’s around the seeds, then dry and store
Morning, thought I’d call in and say hi! I’ve not been on here for a while, but all is good. I’m more active on insta these days, so if you are on there, come and say hi

The sun shone for the final day of the @RHSHydeHall garden show where we had a blast on the #pottingshedstage. Great talks & demos and loads of gardening questions. Thanks to the Hyde Hall garden team and nursery exhibitors that joined us on stage.

Had to pull one of my long carrots this afternoon owing to some corkiness above the shoulder. This had a lovely shape and length on it. That’s one less in the running now!! All the others appear to be fine.
We’re heavy on lettuce in the family so Alwyn came up with this idea using some old growing pipes. The intention is to have lettuce all year round grown in the New Autopot Tray2 Grow system.
