Malvern Autumn Show is over for another year. Thank-you to the other exhibitors and organisers for making it enjoyable. The icing on the cake was getting another World record for the heaviest bell pepper. (963g)
Tyrone predicted on the 27th of August that this would be a world record breaker. He was correct. Itβs been a nervous month making sure it didnβt spoil before the Malvern Autumn Show. It weighed in at 966g. Can I break the 1Kg barrier next year? π€
@Bossloper You can see the bags on top of the poles - to try and keep the pigeons off the plants. They go after the π - do loads of damage. There are loads of πholes in the leaves. I pick off as many as possible. Surrounded with lawn clippings to keep a lot of pests away but not the π°.
Only a week to go and the 2024 growing season will be over. So cold that I am having to keep the greenhouse doors closed. Normally the plants only have blankets in the spring. Have I done enough to get any winners at Malvern? π€π§βΉοΈπ€
@heirloomroots Mine are Mongolian giants as well. Just added some volcanic rock dust to my soil. I also grow green manure during the winter time to improve the soil quality.
