@BRVogt Unfortunately the word "organic" means close to nothing these days. There are so many ways producers can work around regulations. Buying local, where you can actually talk to the farmer, is about the only way to be sure of what you're getting.
@GardenDesignMag@avantgardens Wish I could grow #Acanthus here. ...tried and killed it 3 times. It's just not quite hardy enough for my zone 5-ish garden unfortunately. Might try again in a sheltered spot with lots of winter mulch.
@bodydesign So true! I have my "fat" blue jeans for winter and my "normal" ones for summer when I'm busy working off pounds in the garden. (Always a bit depressing when I outgrow the "fat" jeans by April. So far, so good this year!). Evelyn
Any #SalviaNnemorosa variety is absolutely loaded with bees when blooming in early summer. Here's a tip to keep them looking good the whole season -
After blooming, cut the WHOLE PLANT down to 6".
It will put out neat new growth and bloom again strongly in 5-ish weeks. Evelyn https://t.co/XqEt8okNU8

Did you guess what flowers these #Seedheads came from? One is #Echinacea - a couple of people got that one, but the 5 "petaled" one was trickier - that's the open seed pods of a #TreePeony. ... and the fireworks looking one is from the huge flower heads of #AlliumChristophii
I find #Seedheads can often be just as beautiful as the flowers they came from. A different kind of beautiful, but nevertheless ...
Here's a little arrangement from last fall's garden clean-ups. CAN YOU GUESS THE FLOWERS THEY CAME FROM? I'll post answers on Monday. Evelyn

... as odd as it is to say about a thistle looking plant, #Eryngium is gorgeous in a mixed #PerennialGarden. Unique steely blue sheen and boldly contrasting texture. Very #droughttolerant and needs a well drained spot.
(#GTA NURSERIES, take note! I can seldom find it here!) :( https://t.co/nFG6vef8Yu
Alpine Sea Holly (Eryngium alpinum) for #BotanicMonday! #SciArt by Cecile Pfulb-Kastner for Charles Flahault, Nouvelle flore coloriée de poche des Alpes et des Pyrénées, Vol. 1 (1906). Contributed to #BHLib by @NYBG: https://t.co/EPIoyz8Cdp -- #WomensHistoryMonth

Not necessarily for the obvious reasons though. Hope you enjoy reading some collected thoughts on #SeedStarting on my web site's #SeedyThoughts page. Evelyn
