It was a real privilege to visit Ron’s place. A powerful experience that left me with lots of thoughts and reflections. Sad to hear it is up for auction but still hopeful for a positive outcome where Ron’s legacy can live on in some way.
At the end of last year, I had the pleasure of conducting two groups of trainee clinical psychologists from @DClinPsyLiv around @RonsSaving . It was great to share with them some of the stories about Ron I've picked up through the course of making the documentary so far... 1/4
Everything wrong with our politics, in one story:
Hedge fund manager buys large estate on Dartmoor.
Uses vast fortune to challenge the right to camp there. Wins.
Local people call on their MP to amend the legislation.
Discover he's been funded by the hedge fund manager.
@krishpsychology@ZoePsychJourney I left it blank and got a place. So I’m not sure how much difference it makes. I didn’t know what I was supposed to write there. Looking back, contextual info would have been a good idea but I touched on what I was willing to disclose in other parts of the app anyway.
This talk by Robin Wall Kimmerer, "Mishkos Kenomagwen: The Teachings of Grass" is one of the most important and valuable, soul changing 21 minutes you will ever spend. It kills me it has so few views. Do yourself a favour: watch & share it.

@RMatthewsPsyEdu @elena_24877 @BPSOfficial As far as I know it’s still only Lancs that offer a part-time route. I could be wrong. https://t.co/TB90424IHE
Our trainee @GarethLuce is hosting a film night! 📽️
The film explores what can be learned from people around the world who have turned their psychological crisis into a positive transformative experience.

Months of scandal and incompetence and Johnson appeared immovable throughout. Majority shareholder at the Daily Mail, Lord Rothermere, turns against him and within a week he’s gone. Whilst I’m not a fan of Johnson, the power of MSM in our democracy is a worry.
@MrGMcMillan @tamsingrimmer @StAugustinesCC I should add that I don’t work in education. Though I have in the past. I know that it is easy for me to comment as an outsider looking in. And likely with an idealised view of what might be possible within the limits of the systems, policies and pressures you need to work to
@MrGMcMillan @tamsingrimmer @StAugustinesCC I’m not sure if there’s a one size fits all answer. Certainly not one that will fit in a tweet. Generally I think consequences should logically follow from the behaviour and be focussed on reparation and reconciliation not retribution or humiliation.
@DrHayeLo I think @MrHariParekh might be exploring ways for trainees to connect across courses. Or certainly has at least one idea that would facilitate this. I’ll let him say more as I’m not sure of the latest.
@Sam_Barton321 I think even if there were assurances it would be problematic. But it’s just one more of many ways that people with the financial means can buy an advantage in the process… e.g. private tutors for a levels/uni, buying practice packages for the screening tests etc.
