I was livestreaming in Glasgow city centre when a cyclist and an electric scooter rider collided right in front of me.

Thankfully, after a tense few moments, they talked it out, shook hands and went their separate ways.

The difference between Martinez and Emery is.

One wins trophies, makes players better and has a successful style of playing.

Unai repeats a lot of his post match interviews because he's all about repetition. "If you do this, 9 times out of 10 it will work for us ". He's proven that now across his career mostly.

His problem is also that. A rigidity and belief on the type of player, way he wants to play and refusal to change makes last season and this seasons start almost inevitable. Why? Because in the first 5 games when most managers panic and change a formation or personnel, he won't. Precisely the same reason we went on an extended run, beat Forest and Liverpool almost out of thin air considering form and a trophy.

Will this season be different? Possibly more runs of losing games until ( it may take a January window) he figures out his best 11, who he can trust ( Emi, Morgan, Youri, Ollie he trusted 100%, forget form or favour, he trusted them) and getting them playing.

My humble prediction? I think we can qualify for Europe by position or 8th-9th at worst. He's a demanding guy and those demands will be met.

Champions League is a fun bonus as we transition, and if we take the cups seriously enough ( newbies often love cups, genuine respite from league grind) then we may nick our most elusive trophy of all.

It's a transition, and from a great height last season it's fascinating to see. But Martinez is a bluffer, you just can't say that about Unai.

We have money.
We have injuries.
We have dead wood that we have to use to flesh squad out.
We have risks ( Garnacho)

But we also have some cracking new signings who haven't seen minutes yet, a Captain who's demands echo the owners and manager and a changing Villa Park landscape that when finished will be a sight to see and noise to behold.

Be fucking patient. And stop making comparisons that aren't valid.

And now Ollie Watkins is officially gone, I genuinely don’t wish for another window like this again, no club should have the heart ripped out of it in one window.

It needed to happen, an ageing squad and a big wage bill, but we didn’t deserve all of that in one window, especially after finishing 4th and winning a European Trophy.
