@Christyruzt A lot of times, they assess whether the persons need full assistance or if they can provide somewhat for themselves. The church is really big on believing people are negatively affected by long-term reliance on others. Tons of factors go into play though, just a thought.

@Christyruzt So I obviously don’t know your uncle or his story, but I do have a little insight on how this kind of assistance goes. It seems like the bishop is trying to help in a couple ways. He wants to provide food, but he also wants to keep your uncle from being dependent on the church.
