@strawberryjei Hi, the ranking is intentional and the question should be working fine. I do see where your concern is and I'll make a note to be conscious of this when I start analyzing the data

Emily West’s “pleasure garden” concept in #buynowbook is useful in combating Amazon’s use of naturalistic metaphors that divert from the “materialities of digital technology and its environmental impact”.
#buynowbook really shows how Amazon’s strategies for expanding internationally are both insidious and coercive. They present themselves as locally beneficial when they are using their political weight to bypass domestic business protection policies.
Amazon uses globalization to present itself as less American and more specific to local cultures while on a global scale. We’d be interested to see how Amazon operates in South American and African countries in relation to their specific cultures.
Thank you @jmcclearen for introducing us to @westemilye ‘s Buy Now. My group enjoyed this book and we fussed on the Image section and its analysis of Amazon’s ecological metaphors, monopoly, globalization, and ubiquity. #buynowbook
Amazon’s presence is so large that customers are inundated with all its programs and services to the point that Amazon nearly becomes our only option. It presents itself with ecological metaphors to affect customer’s feelings and equates itself with the ubiquity of nature.
@murap_iaar Slave catchers became sheriffs and we can't allow their history to be erased. They should not be heroes who save the day because they are a source of trauma for many different people.
@murap_iaar Right now, we are seeing increased visibility to police brutality. This means we must be vigilant about the messages our media is sending. We can't blindly accept films that glamorize cops as heroes because the very idea of modern cops is born out of anti-Blackness...
@murap_iaar Putting a Black character on screen doesn't mean there is conscious effort in representing Blackness. Doing so can cause more harm than good. We have to use the right people to tell their own stories because they're the one who know their struggle.
@murap_iaar Specifically, film and TV have become a major source of entertainment. Through these, we draw conclusions about certain groups of people based on the representations we see on screen. Those conclusions are then used to make judgments about the actual individuals we encounter.
