This dude lied straight to your face..
He definitely does have shock collar on the dog & a remote for it within arm’s reach. All so he can zap his dog to sit still for hours.
He lied about it because he knows it’s a terrible thing to do. And all of you that rushed to defend it should be ashamed.
Anyone who walks away from this #citizencon Direct excited for an organic, emergent multiplayer video game should be devastated. Instancing is the most disappointing design decision made by CIG in years - no amount of graphical fidelity will replace what we are about about to lose.
Star Citizen had design potential to provide all gameplay options - avoiding "griefing" while also giving options to "griefers" through its differentiation between different star systems. Pyro is an example of null security: lawless, dangerous, and required skill in order to obtain high reward. Terra would be the opposite: high security with more safe gameplay options and mediocre rewards (at max).
My opinion as an 11 year player with almost 10k hours: the "griefer" problem has always been overblown - watch any streamer do their favorite PvE loop for hours without issue. On average, they get "griefed" one out of every hundred runs in total - they still make large profits despite the extremely low risk.
Instancing now destroys the real differences between these star systems - making them all a theme park rollercoaster ride, rather than a true sandbox. When it permeates into mid or high tier gameplay, it will completely skew the risk/reward balance economy as well. How is @RobertsSpaceInd missing the mark on this so badly?
This CitizenCon stands as a monument to the downgrade in what Star Citizen had potential to provide as a multiplayer game. This is no longer a "next-gen game" without these traits, it's going to simply become an online multiplayer co-op game with little to no actual danger. Isn't that what Squadron 42 is for? In which part of this experience are you catering to organic PvP at all? All you've done is remove potential for all groups to participate in.
Organic Star Citizen PvP never affected the game - CIG's constant poor design decisions did. There was plenty of room for both parties, you just chose to force them both into a smaller area out of laziness. We could have had the depth and width of an ocean but we're "settling" for a shallow olympic size pool with lanes? Really? What a massive reduction in scale.
The "Rich" Tyrer Era has made us poor. RIP to a organic, emergent universe.
