@kurtbuhler Thoughts on “Unified Star Schema” by Bill Inmon and Francesco Puppini? They elegantly prove a Puppini Bridge solves chasm trap & fan trap. Never heard anyone in PBI community mention..Makes me wonder if there are lots of traps in star schemas out there.

@tpnRel1@AgulloBernat@DOtykier@KratosBi@Datatouille The scenario I am trying to achieve is: a matrix with Categorical Field parameter on the Rows, Time Intel Calc Items on the Columns, and the Value field of the matrix is a DAX Measure field parameter. Each calc item should have smart dynamic color gradient & be sortable.
@AgulloBernat@tpnRel1@DOtykier@KratosBi@Datatouille 100% agree that #NumberOfMeasuresMatters for performance! But also reducing time to insight for the report consumer is paramount. Wish it were easier to sort each Calc item in a matrix as if it were a measure and to automate smart, dynamic color gradient for all Calc items
@AgulloBernat@tpnRel1@DOtykier@KratosBi@Datatouille I want to embrace calc groups more, but my report consumers love having BOTH conditional formatting (e.g. color gradient) AND ability to sort on any column in a matrix for example. Crazy difficult or near impossible to achieve that with calc items as columns. Easy with measures.
@notaboutthecell@tpnRel1 I wish Power BI team would make it easier to sort and conditionally format calculation items. It’s a huge pain at the moment…I tend to create extra measures for time intelligence anyway bc users would rather have slower load time than lack of sorting & conditional formatting.

@msexcel The ability to use the new Field Parameters feature for Power BI, but within Analyze In Excel (live connected to Power BI Dataset) would be a game changer for our organization’s analytics. It would empower our managers to answer their own questions in Excel
@ReubenBrigety Huge welcome to SA ambassador! Amen to that, music brings us all together! Hope you dig some 80s tunes bc our cover band Hair Force One is preparing to rock out for you in the very near future.. 🤘🏻🎸🎤 if you’ve got a favorite you should totally join us on stage on clarinet/sax
@InsightsMachine Brilliant work Jeff! By the way, I added an extra snippet of logic at the end to automatically choose the best number of decimals and it works great! If there was someway to gracefully handle axis labels within the code, we would have the holy grail of data label calc groups...
If you get infected with Covid, billions of viral particles will replicate all over your body and may cause long-term harm. In contrast, a vaccine teaches your immune system how to respond to the infection—and then leaves.
If I have a cup of water, I can put out a stove fire. But I can’t put out a forest fire, even if that water is 100% potent.
That’s why everyone must wear a mask. As a nation, we’ll recover faster if you give the vaccine less work to do when it's ready.
I want to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all healthcare professionals who have been the heart and soul of the #COVID19 response. They have cared for patients, comforted families and supported each other during trying times. Please be safe and wear a mask in their honor.
