Development Update 1.41: Introducing Zombie “Eat Mode” AI Behavior!
We’ve taken immersion to the next level by introducing a new AI feature "Eat Mode". Now, zombies can be seen feeding on fallen corpses and react dynamically when the player gets too close.

1/ 🛠️ Development Update 1.41: We’re excited to roll out Eat Mode that brings more lifelike moments (and chaos) to the battlefield.
2/ 🧟♂️ What is Eat Mode? Zombies can now detect dead bodies of other zombies (static meshes) and enter a feeding animation, crouching over and “eating” them in a disturbing way.
3/ 😳 It Feels Real: No more idle corpses. As you explore the battlefield, you’ll now come across zombies feeding on fallen allies, making the post-fight scenes feel unsettlingly alive.
4/ 👀 But That’s Not All… When players approach zombies mid-feast, the zombies immediately react by snapping out of eat mode and charging toward the player for an attack.
5/ 🔁 Dynamic Worldbuilding: This simple behavior tweak adds a new layer to the gameplay loop. Players now face a risk-reward scenario by sneak past distracted zombies, or get too close and trigger an ambush.
6/ 🧠 Under the Hood: Eat Mode is fully controlled by behavior trees, condition checks, and proximity triggers. It’s part of our ongoing effort to make every AI decision feel grounded in context.
7/ ⚔️ Strategic Depth: You might find an opening when a zombie is distracted, but that moment won’t last. They’re hungry… but not stupid.
